    A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English for Grade IV

    I. OBJECTIVESAt the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:

    A. Explain the difference between subject of the sentence from action words;B. Distinguish subjects and actions words in the given sentences;C. Value the creation of God.

    III. PROCEDUREA. Daily Routine

    1. PrayerStudents Prayer

    B. MotivationThe teacher groups the pupils into two. Each group chooses a group leader to

    lead them. After such, each group is given a puzzled picture. They are given 3

    minutes to arrange the puzzle to reveal the picture. They are going to post the

    pictures on the board. The first group to finish is considered the winner.

    The teacher asks the following questions to solicit ideas from the pupils:

    1. Can you name the things in the picture?2. What is the picture all about?3. Who created all of these things?

    C. Presentation of the Lesson1. Discussion of the Poem

    The teacher sums up the answers of the pupils which lead to the reading of

    the poem titled God Loves Us Best. Afterward, the pupils listen carefully

    to the teacher as he reads the poem aloud.

    God Loves Us Best

    God loves us best,

    He keeps us in safety,

    He protects us in our way.

    He gives us our daily food,

    He gives us the best of care,

    He is so very dear.

    God does not ask us for anything,Except to be good to all living things.

    After reading the poem, the teacher asks the pupils to read the lines that

    answer the questions below:

    1. Who loves us best?2. Who teaches us to be good?3. What does God want us to do?

    2. Grammar IntegrationTeacher explains the following:

    The words loves, keeps, andprotects are action words. Action words are

    also called verbs.

    Who does the action in the poem?

    The doer of the action is the subject of the sentence. It is always a noun or a

    pronoun.

    Read these questions and answers.

    A. What does Father do?Father works for the family.He earns money for the family.

    He takes care of the family.

    B. What does Mother do?Mother goes to the market.She cleans the house.

    She takes care of the baby.

    Teacher explains that the above groups of words are sentences. A sentence

    expresses a complete thought.It has an action word and the doer of the

    action, the subject.

    being described.
