Assignment #1:

Given a circle with center (ℎ, 𝑘) and a point on the circle (𝑥, 𝑦), find the length of the radius.

Equation of a circle with center (𝒉, 𝒌) and radius 𝒓is given by:

(𝑥 − ℎ)2 + (𝑦 − 𝑘)2 = 𝑟2

Example #1:

Find the center and radius of the circle with the equation. Sketch the graph of the circle (𝑥 + 3)2 + (𝑦 − 5)2 = 4

Exercise 1:

Find the center and radius of each circle. Sketch the graph.

A) (𝑥 − 2)2 + (𝑦 + 4)2 = 9 B) (𝑥 + 7)2 + (𝑦 + 3)2 = 25 C) 𝑥2 + (𝑦 − 1)2 = 49
