She adjusted the volcano again and again. She practiced explaining it and answering questions. But other projects were great, too. Her friend Luis had built a small cave with rocks that glowed.

• The rabbits jump.

• These endings are added to make the verb tell when something happened.

• The rabbits jump. The verb jump is the root word and tells what the rabbits do. When we add –ing to jump, the word jumping tells us that something is happening now. When we add –ed to jump, the word jumped tells us that the rabbits jumped in the past.
