lesson #2

Lesson #2 A: To begin this lesson, students will continue to expand their comprehension of graphs. First, students will listen to a podcast created by the teacher to make a transition from the first lesson to this one. Students will hear of all the different types of graphs that were mentioned the first day, along with a preview of the graph being focused on in this lesson. Students are going to primarily look at pie charts (circle graphs). S: My students will be exploring the characteristics and reasons why/ when they would use a pie chart through the podcast shared at the beginning of class that gives them an introduction to the characteristics of a pie chart, then students will be creating their own pie chart out of an image the students would select from the Internet while using the snipping tool to help them create the image, and finally students will get into pairs and through Zello they will communicate with their partner what all they had learned that day. Students will be keeping a notebook (made in class) throughout this unit to give them a place to write down their notes, ideas, and examples. The students will complete this by the end of the fourth day with 95% accuracy. S: The technology that will be used throughout this lesson will be the computer and I-pads. Students U: To prepare this lesson, the podcast created by the teacher will be up and ready to be played by the beginning of class. Students will already have the paper on their table for when they begin making the foldable notebook. The I-pads will be plugged in and charging so when the students are ready for their communication time, the I-pads will be ready for use. The computers will already have the image editing tool up and running; this makes it easier for the students to go ahead and begin their work.

Lesson #2

A: To begin this lesson, students will continue to expand their comprehension of graphs.

Students

U: To prepare this lesson, the podcast created by the teacher will be up and ready to be played by the beginning of class.

R: Throughout this lesson, students will have many ways to be involved in classroom participation. Students will be able to share and communicate their ideas through the partner time using Zello and be able to share their image they had created. Students can comment on the Twitter or Facebook page if they have any questions or would like to share their image to the whole group.

E: Evaluations will be made through observing, the students creating an image, and using the Zello application appropriately to communicate to their partner.
