Analysing the incident

This incident is mentioned in Tirmidhi who says it is satisfactory.

Imam Bayhaqi says this incident is well known among historians.

Jalaludin Suyuti says “this incident is supported by a number of similar narrations which leads to its authenticity”.

Ibn Hajar says all the narrators of the incident are reliable and each narrator is a narrator from Bukhari. Haakim mentions a similar point.

Poem regarding the incident

He was referred to as Al-Amin,He travelled to syria with his uncle until he reached Busra,

Where Bahira, the monk caught sight,Of something that indicated that this is the final messenger,

Muhammed, the Prophet of this Ummah,So he immediately he returned him at once,For fear of the jews discovering whom he is,

His age was no more then twelve,

Battle of Harbul Fujjar

This battle erupted because of two reasons.

1) One of the tribes did something unlawful

2) Blasphemy to another tribe. Between the Quraysh and Qays The war ended in a draw with both

tribe agreeing on a truce.

Did the Prophet participate in these wars?

He participated but without actually engaging in fighting.

He would provide his uncles with arrows and other stuff.

Also, the battle erupted in the sacred months.

Ibn Hisham says, the Prophet was 14 or 15 at the time.

After the war

This is when the pact of Abdullah Ibn Judan was made which was explained last week.

Some facts about Abdullah Ibn Judan:

1)He was the cousin of Aysah2) He was very generous.

“Whilst walking during the hot summers, I would sometimes take shelter in the shade provided by the pot of Abdullah Ibn Judan”.

In a hadith in Muslim,Aysah asked the Prophet, Abduallah ibn Judan was a hospitable man, would

this benefit him on the day of judgement? Prophet said, No, this is because he did not say “O Allah, Pardon my sins on the day of reckoning”.

Other words he did not ask for forgiveness at any time during his life.

Prophet as a merchant

Prophet was the most truthful and honest. He was honoured with the title of Al – Amin. There are many virtues of being an honest

trader. Abdullah Ibn Saib says during the days of

ignorance I was the business partner of the Prophet. When I came to the Prophet in Madinah, Prophet asked, Do you recognise me? He replied surely yes. You were my business partner and a amazing partner. You would never squabble or haggle over anything”.
