To help the children to identify the features of empowering beliefs. 5. To help the children to understand the link between beliefs, thoughts, feelings and actions. 6. To help the children to consider the ways in which empowering beliefs are like batteries. Development Show and discuss the PowerPoint slides. Discuss and complete one or both of the activities in the children’s Pupil Book. Set and discuss the homework page. Cross-curricular links / Supplementary Activities Weaving Well-Being Rap: Supplementary Worksheet - SW11A (page 85) – this song is taught to children as part of the Second Class programme and can be revised at all subsequent levels of the programme. The audio track is available on the Outside the Box Learning Resources Ltd. website at www.otb.ie/WWB Visual Art: Posters on the power of beliefs – photocopy the quotes about belief on Supplementary Worksheet - SW1 (page 74). Allow the children to design posters based on these quotes or to make up their own quotes. Literacy: Explore and discuss how the beliefs, hidden or otherwise of characters from literature and class novels affect their feelings and behaviour. SESE: Brainstorm and discuss characters from past or present who had empowering beliefs about themselves and how this helped them to achieve their goals.
