Lesson 1:Introduction of Computer
Information Technology-is the use of computers and software to manage information. In some companies, this is referred to as MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM(MIS) or simply as INFORMATION SYSTEM (IS).
Information Technology Companies-this means trying to ensure customer satisfaction and build relationship with the customers.
Information Technology developed 5 areas Store Process Retrieve Transmit Protects
1. Users- people who will find it relevant and would make good use of it.
2. Hardware- the term “hardware” can describe any piece of equipment that serves as a part of the system.
3. Software- are sets of logical functions and procedures that enable computers to do various tasks for its users.
4. Data- is the primary element traded within a computer system.
5. Procedures – a list of rules created to regulate the use of a computer system.
Elements of a Computer System
Types of Computers1. Desktop Computers- they can be small, medium, or large
style, and usually sit on a desk.
2. Laptops, Notebooks, and Netbooks- a laptop computer is sometimes called a notebook computer because of its size.
3. Servers- is a computer that “serves up” information to other computers on a network.
4. Mainframes and Supercomputers- these computers are the giant brothers of servers.
5. Other Types of Computers- is basically specialized computers.

87% of Filipino Internet users have been victims of cybercrimes–DOJ MANILA, Philippines — Almost 9 out of 10 Filipino Internet users have been victimized by cybercrime or a malicious activity on the Internet at one time or another, the Department of Justice (DOJ) primer on facts and trends about cybercrimes committed in the country, said on Tuesday. The primer on Philippine cybercrime has been prepared by the DOJ as part of its advocacy program to prevent abuses in cyberspace as the legality of the new law against cybercrime is being deliberated in the Supreme Court. In October 2012, the implementation of the new Cyber-crime Prevention Act of 2012 was suspended by the high tribunal for four months until Feb.6 following 15 petitions seeking for the law to be declared unconstitutional wholly or partially. The high court is set to hear on Jan.15 oral arguments on the law that became controversial because of its provisions that included the criminalization of online libel.
Philippine Gov't websites hit by Chinese hackers
MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines said alleged Chinese hackers attacked three websites maintained by President Benigno Aquino's office on Monday. The attacks came shortly after the government said it would raise its concerns with the United States over an increasingly tense territorial sea dispute with China.Aquino's office, in a statement, said a "significant spike in traffic with malicious URL requests" flooded the president's official gazette (www.gov.ph) and two other websites (www.pcdspo.gov.ph, www.malacanang.gov.ph) run by his communications team."Information gathered through our data analysis indicated that the attack originated from IP (internet protocol) addresses were assigned to Chinese networks," the statement said. The attack caused a "temporary disruption of service," the statement added.Monday's attack came three days after hackers claiming to be from China defaced the website of the Philippines' top government-run university to assert their country's claim over the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea).Local reports said a group of Philippine hackers calling itself "Anonymous" allegedly retaliated by hacking two Chinese government websites.Philippine Foreign Ministry spokesman Raul Hernandez earlier Monday condemned the cyber-attacks and called on hackers from both sides to stop the online war."We denounce such cyber-attacks regardless from which side they are coming from," Hernandez said."We think they are counter-productive and only add to the tension. We call on both Filipino and Chinese netizens to be more responsible and encourage dialogue rather than discord," he said.
