Lesson 02LETTERING
When you practice lettering, it can feel a little daunting. Tracing out letters can help, but practice is going
to be key. Remember to slow down when note-taking. Listen for key ideas or phrases and jot them down
(don’t worry about whole sentences). When you write down those key ideas, sometimes just simply
writing them out (along with a Doodle (symbol) is all that’s needed. Using block lettering can take some
getting used to—especially if you decide to freehand. Just remember

Remember to use different lines to help
covey meaning (straight, curved, angled,
curly). Remember, illustrate the word and
then put the frame (something that
matches the word) around it.

Continue to developed the poster from lesson 1—moving onto step 2
1. Brainstorm poster ideas

4. Adding Colors; using mapping techniques
5. After the four lessons are complete, the student then submits the poster
Option 2:
Have the student create a single poster using the topic learned (lettering) and combining it with what's already
been learned (basic shapes and combinations).
