the projectMission Locale Sud is an organisation supported by the French state Department, set up in St Pierre, St Joseph, Le Tampon and St Louis. The organisation has 65 members who work as coordinators and advisers. The aim of the organisation is to help

young people between 16-25 years old to improve their employability prospects offering them trainings. The Leonardo trainee will work in one of the office of Mission Locale with young people. He/She will work with them through workshops

organised by young people from “Comite Jeune”: multi-media workshop, theatre workshop, CV workshop, etc.

Morning Afternoon

Mon Team meeting : the trainee will be involved in decisions made by the team about what happened during the last week, and what will happen during this week.

CV workshop : the trainee will help youth to create their own CV in english. That will give the opportunity to young people to spread their chance to get a job.

Tue Theater workshop: te trainee will have the opportunity to act with other young people; Personal work : the trainee will have his own time to work on his own project or do what he/she is asked to do by the team, that doesn’t need interaction (working on a computer for example). Another activity would be shadowing an adviser to see how advisers work with young people and what are the main issues in the island.

Wed Meeting with futur Leonardo going to the UK. During this day, the trainee will have to opportunity to meet young people from Réunion ; to speak french and english ; to speak about their own culture and their country. He/she will also learn about the culture in Réunion, some french and créole, the typical food, the typical music (sega and maloya).

Thu Comité jeune : meeting with young people from the Comité jeune. During this meeting, they decide the kind of project they would like to do together, and make decision about the future. The trainee, by integrating this comité, will have the opportunity to make project with young people and to get to know how to create a project in Réunion.

Multi-média workshop : young people from the comité jeune have the oppor-tunity to learn about multi-media. Here, they will create videos for Mission Locale relating the events that has been done by Mission Locale. They will also learn how to create photomontage and soundmon-tage. Fri The trainee will have the opportunity to give english lessons to young people. Regarding the level in english here, lessons will be basics. He/she will have time to prepare the lesson during the week. Afterwards, the trainee will have the opportunity to learn french with young people, or with a french teacher.

The trainee will work at the reception of Mission Locale. By working there, he/she will be confronted to young people speaking french (or creole) and guide them if he/she can.

The country Climate: The climate in Réunion is tropical, but temperature moderates with elevation. The weather is cool and dry from May to November (21 to 28 C), and hot and rainy from November to April (26 to 32 C). the project placeReunion Island is a French Island located in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, about 200 kilometres (120 mi) south west of Mauritius, the nearest island.

St Joseph, St Pierre, Le Tampon and St Louis are major districts (communes) in the French overseas department of Reunion Island located on the southwest

side of the island. They are located on the non-windy and dryer area (from La Possession to St Joseph).
