Quaint is a wall clock which was inspired by the clock face of an old clock tower. The brass of the clock’s dial and outer periphery are exposed by polishing.
Orb is a wall clock which draws inspiration from old, tarnished brass instruments such as those used dur ing ear ly voyages and astronomical obser vations. Thin engravings on the clock face form a dial on the coloured surface, exposing the brass below. Both clocks emphasize the natural qualities of their materials, using the attractive contrast between the brass and coloured finish to enhance the visibility of the clock face. The distinctive texture is achieved by a process of brass casting that uses traditional colouring techniques originating from Takaoka, Toyama. The rich texture is intended to stand up to walls that have a strong material quality, such as exposed concrete or brick.
WALL CLOCKAbout brass coloringThe traditional colour ing technique of Takaoka douki(copper), named “Nuka yaki shudo-shoku” was applied to each clock. The black satin colour with a speckled pattern finish is made by blackening after drawing out the pattern using a chemical and heating. The silver finish with specked pattern is achieved by applying pure silver plating. While the gas-bronze colour with speckled pattern is produced by the green rust that forms when the clock face is exposed to ammonia gas.

The or iginal typeface for “clock c” was initially formed on moulded aluminum numbers produced in 1951, found by the designer in a local flea market. Taking inspiration from these, they have been reworked with a delicate and precise touch to create a bold impact.

Japan is known for its minimalistic design, and Riki Watanabe was the modern master of the form. Founding his eponymous design bureau in 1949, Watanabe was in no small par t responsible for the development of Japan’s post-war design aesthetic, and to celebrate the centenary of his bir th in 2011, clock label Lemnos reached into their archive , reissuing some of the great designer’s iconic clock designs. Still timeless decades after its creation, the Copper Clock pays tribute to the designer’s favourite metal, its warm tones high-lighting the clear white dial. A timeless classic, the retro flair of this wall-mounted clock shines with the skill of a true design legend.

IRIS is the goddess of the Rainbow in Greek mythol-ogy. Like a rainbow drawn in the air, “beautiful col-ors” are reflected even to places in which they did not exist. And like a satellite in zero gravity space, the clock hands move ahead in “time” silently while f loating in space . A paral lel univer se sealed in an acr ylic cube has been created. In behind, the tr ick which makes the most of the material characteristics of “mirrors” and “acr ylics” is hidden. It’s “An object for telling time” beyond “a clock”.With just looking at it, a long time passes by before you even know it.

The PACE is an unconventional circular-frame cuckoo clock with the image of a birdhouse laid over the clock dial. Ren-dered in high-quality plywood and evoking the feel of a trompe-l’œil piece, the PACE is designed with a sense of fun in mind, from the cuckoo’s window placement in the 6 o’clock position to the bird figure motif of the clock hands.

With care hiroshi takata chose the name lemnos for his company and brand: the greek island of lemnos in ancient mythology is home to the god hephaistos, the god of all craftsmen. "A clock is not only for telling us time, a clock is a masterpiece of craftsmenship and design. It forms space. It is not a fading fashion, it is timeless".
