the department to ensure recreation programming in Chesterfield is the best it can be! The advisory board meets the

Department of Leisure Services.
Recreation services for all ages are now
combined under one umbrella with one
common goal of providing more efficient
services to the community we serve. Seniors
and Parks & Recreation will remain two
separate operations however, we will be
utilizing shared resources to bring Chesterfield
Township exceptional activities and programs!
Leisure Services are designed to provide the
physical, mental, cultural, and social needs of
residents and guests. It is our goal to provide
a multitude of activities that are affordable,
stimulating and comprehensive, and that
enhance the quality of life through recreation,
enrichment, fitness, athletics, cultural arts,
conservation, preservation, and general open
space use. It is our mission to accomplish this
in a safe, enjoyable, and aesthetically
enriching environment for all ages with

a broad definition of health. Where healthy living includes
emotional, intellectual, spiritual, environmental, financial,
occupational, social, along with the physical aspects of our
lives. Local resources will be on-site providing information,
free screenings, and so much more!

Youth Baseball SPRING Season
Practices/games are played at Pollard Park, Chesterfield Township Offices or in New
Baltimore. Practices begin in May and play continues through the end of June, weather
permitting. Opening Day ceremonies and games are planned to be held on Saturday,
May 16. Player age is determined as of August 31, 2020.

AGES 5-12 (Must have completed Kindergarten)
Camp Hours: Monday-Friday, 7AM-6PM hosted at the Chesterfield Youth Center.
Every day is action-packed with something new. Campers can expect to have a summer
filled with giggles, games, and crafts, plus a little learning too!
Campers will bring their own lunch, water bottle, snacks, and sunscreen each day.
Friday lunch, one camp shirt, and two weekly field trips are included in the cost. No
additional trip costs for campers.

‘Soccer University’ Spring Soccer League
Chesterfield Township Parks and Recreation Department and
the Sports Academy’s MI Burn Developmental League have
teamed up to provide a fun, positive league experience for
young soccer players. No rain days needed with an indoor site
available. Practices and games are held at The Sports
Academy. Each player receives a t-shirt jersey.

Spring Break “Summer” Camp
Spend your Spring Break getting a taste of summer with half day camps and field
trips. Large and small group play, hands-on activities, sports, and art fill your time

included to CJ Barrymores and the Detroit Zoo. Also
included in the price is lunch on Friday. Campers

This program welcomes interaction between preschoolers and parents. Engage in

The purpose of martial arts is to enable individuals to achieve their

experience a variety of team sports,

learning environment. Our instructor
will teach the basic skills of each
sport by using stations and leading
to giving the sport a try. By

and excited throughout the 4-week
program. This session will focus on
soccer, basketball, baseball, and
volleyball.

Teach a Kid to Fish Brandenburg Park for ages 4-10
Participants will learn about fish habitats, how to find the best locations to catch fish,
and fishing basics. Taught by a local volunteer fisherman who has plenty of knowledge
through personal experience. This course will provide a learning environment suitable
for a variety of students. Hands-on and outdoors, this is a great opportunity to utilize the
natural waterways in your backyard. Anticipate experiencing Brandenburg Park’s newly
softened shoreline and fish habitat restoration while your youngster tries for their
biggest catch!
This is a learning program for first-time or new anglers, with adult support. Fishing pole
to take home will be provided along with bait. Parents should plan to stay to assist.

Horseback Riding Private Lessons One session at Justamere Equestrian Centre includes 30-minute lessons, once a week
for 4 weeks offered for new riders ages 5 to adult. Justamere will reach out to registered
participants to set up a time that works best in your busy schedule for weekly lessons. A
variety of days and times are available year-round with an indoor space and heated
viewing area. Register on your own time, within your own schedule!
This introductory program offers 1-on-1 lessons in English horseback riding, uniquely
suited to each rider’s level of experience and comfort on the reins. Each new rider will
be evaluated in the first class to find the best level of assistance for the session. These
lessons are not just for the kids; adults are welcome to join in as well with a 250lb
weight restriction. Riders are required to wear comfortable long pants and sturdy boots;
no need to purchase riding gear for this class. Helmets will be provided.

Enthusiastic coaches lead these programs with commitment to
the skill development and preparedness of young athletes within

Firefighter Challenge Course Saturdays, 9-11AM

Three weeks of training culminating in
a timed challenge course competition
with the Chesterfield Firefighters. Cash
prizes to the best competitors in the men's
and women's categories. Taking the spirit
of the Firefighter Combat Challenge course,
participants will compete in physical fitness
challenges engaging multiple muscle groups.
Challenge activities may include hose
bundle carrying, flights of stairs, and
deadweight hoist. This challenge course is designed for adults ages 18 and older
who are interested in pushing themselves to compete to the best of their ability.
The challenge is for individuals with a moderate level of physical fitness
experience or higher.
