REPs Workshop 1B
10.45-11.45 Piazza Suite 1 5 Key Steps To Growing a Successful Fitness Business
Evolve Leisure Nichola Curran Nichola Curran, Founder & Director of Evolve Leisure knows exactly what it takes to grow a successful business. In the past 3 years Nichola has taken her business from zero to 6 figures, qualified close to 500 instructors and is now a business coach to health & fitness professionals across the UK. During this session Nichola is going to share the 5 key steps that she has used and still uses to grow her business and the same 5 steps she now coaches other fitness professionals through. If you are thinking this session is not for you as you don’t have a fitness ‘business’. If you’re self-employed and responsible for bringing in the money YOU earn, then YOU have a ‘business’. When it comes down to it, you can have a list of qualifications as long as your arm or be working longer hours than everyone else; it does not mean you’re going to have a successful business. The 5 steps apply to you regardless of whether you’re a Personal Trainer, Pilates Instructor, Zumba Instructor or the next Richard Branson. Even if one of these steps are missing you’ve just made things a whole lot harder (if not impossible) for yourself.

REPs Workshop 2A
12.05-13.05 REPs Theatre Flatten Your Abs Forever CHEK Europe Matt Wallden Everyone dreams of flat abs, but all too often sees little or no result from exercise or dieting – the dreaded paunch remains despite being able to perform hundreds of crunches! This lecture explains all the reasons why your exercise program may not be getting the results it should. Learn the common problems that prevent people from achieving flat abs including ineffective exercise programming, poor nutritional habits, hormonal imbalance, gynecological and gastro-intestinal disorders and much more. Understand important factors to look for when assessing your clients and how multidisciplinary programs can really work to condition and flatten abdominals.
REPs Workshop 2B
12.05-13.05 Piazza Suite 1 Sports Nutrition In A Nutshell
Discovery Learning
Alan Jackson It is quite remarkable the number of athletes of all abilities that are almost totally unaware of the basic principles of sports nutrition. Competitors, in pursuit of a new personal best continue to increase vigour intensity and duration of their training regimes, risking injury and fatigue, when in reality, many would benefit more by making subtle adjustments to their dietary approach. Fitness professionals and personal trainers can provide a valuable service to the vast majority of both recreational and more serious competitive athletes that have hit a ceiling with their physical training alone, by supporting them with the rudiments of sports nutrition. In this brief session you will learn how to properly assess the clients nutritional needs with respect to their sport, training schedule and competition goals. We will cover how to calculate carb and protein requirements and how to approach those operating in weight controlled disciplines. We will touch on carb loading, refuelling and nitrogen balance as well as a brief look at sports nutrition and immunology. The essence of this short talk is to provide you with a basic approach to support your clients to get the foundations in place so that they can meaningfully improve performance.
REPs Workshop 2C
12.05-13.05 Piazza Suite 2 The Results Business The Fit Box Paul Russell Ultimately we are judged on our ability to deliver results. Knowing 57 varieties of the Burpee, mastering the Olympic clean and jerk or believing in the mystical powers of high intensity interval training, are only of value to our client if their goal is to know 57 different ways to do a Burpee, compete in the Olympics or be really good at interval training. The measure of a great trainer is not in how much cool stuff we know, but the application of these skills and knowledge in order to support our client in reaching their goals. Results driven programming is built on effective client engagement, and practical goal setting & planning. To this end we must consider a range of strategies to help us prescribe successful exercise and lifestyle strategies that link directly to our clients very personal and individual needs.

This session will provide an overview of the key factors to consider and look at broad guidelines for activity for pregnant women with weight issues.
