Lego Marble Ramp

This Challenge will:Test your understanding of forces like gravity,

friction, and inertia.

Test your ability to work with others to solve a problem.

Test your ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure of time.

Your Objective is:To create a simple machine (inclined plane)

that will move a marble (using the forces of gravity and inertia) a distance of at least 1 foot.

The marble must be on the device the entire time and not fall off. Use friction to keep the marble on the device.

After it has traveled a distance of 1 foot it may fall off the device and continue rolling.

Things to doDiscuss and plan before you build.

How will you keep your marble rolling?

How will you keep your marble from rolling off of the machine?

Who will do what?

Work together nicely. You are a team.

Things not to do:Fuss and whine

Build things other than the objective.

Build two ramps because you can’t get along.

Steal Legos.

All groups that complete the challenge:Will earn tickets

But the group that keeps their marble on the machine for the greatest distance will be declared the winner of the engineering challenge.
