Next Level SKI RACING IS A POWERFUL, DYNAMIC SPORT

WHERE WINNERS AND LOSERS ARE SEPARATED BY MERE HUNDREDTHS OF A SECOND.

The Legacy Training Centre at Red Mountain Resort is the f i rst a l l-new training Centre of i ts k ind in years and has been purpose-bui lt with racers, parents and coaches in mind. We want you to shave t ime and save t ime.

We surveyed race famil ies and ski teams from around the world to f ind out what real ly matters to them—and we incorporated these ideas into Legacy, one of the best new training Centres in North America.

Red is the home of ski racing in Canada and this proud legacy of speed is where the new Centre gets i ts name.

GET REAL

Recreational skiers hailing from Red Mountain have always been revered for their speed. Why? Well, ski racing in Canada started on these very slopes back in 1897 when Olaus Jeldness organized a mass-start race down Red into Rossland. And that passion has never gone away.

Since 1948, Red Mountain Racers, and its predecessor the Red Mountain Ski Club, have put 38 athletes on Canada’s National Ski Team. Twelve of these athletes have competed at the Olympics, with two (Nancy Greene Raine and Kerrin Lee-Gartner) capturing Gold!

For 6 consecutive Olympics, starting with Sarajevo in 1984, and concluding with Salt Lake in 2002, at least one Red Mountain Racer was there to carry Canada’s hopes on the slopes. In 2011, another Red Mountain Racer, Sasha Zaitsoff, became a member of the Canadian National Ski Team.

We have a very proud history to build on and a fantastic future to look towards. For many years, Red Mountain racers have produced more National team members than any other club in Canada. Today we have dedicated and talented youth reaching for their goals and poised to

greet the world with the next Olympics. You can be part of this racing history by training at Red Mountain.

The Red Mountain Racers and RED Mountain Resort annually host a variety of races. For the 2015 ski season RED will be hosting the TECK BC OPEN Race Series for U16/ U18/ U21 athletes January 15-18 and the FIS Keurig Cup Technical Series from March 6-10.

ROSSLAND: REAL TOWN. REAL CLOSE.Dryland Doesn’t Have to be…Dry.

Rossland, BC is a smal l a lpine city of 3 ,500. And the best part is i t ’s only 4 kms from Legacy.

Every year, act ive people make the move to Rossland because of i ts c ity-style offer ings coupled with fresh mountain air. The histor ic town was bui lt in the late 1800’s for the gold rush and has grown alongside Red Mountain in a sane and responsible way. Our vast terrain, rel iable snow, and modern amenit ies would qual i fy Red Mountain as a Mega-resort in terms of s ize of the mountain, but we

have worked and planned di l igently to retain the charm and vibe of yesteryear. It’s no wonder The New York Times voted RED and Rossland #8 on their “Best Places To Visit in 2013.”

Fitness facilities, skating rinks, a movie theatre, sports shops, book stores…a session at Legacy isn’t the usual “ski, dryland, tune skis, repeat”. We believe that racers learn more—and go faster—when they’re having fun and you’d be hard pressed to find a venue that is more fun than Legacy. Rossland itself can be an island of calm for racers as well as their parents and coaches.

Aside from its picturesque front street (and multiple legit espresso offerings) Rossland is home to world-class physiotherapists, massage therapists, athletic therapists and more. It has a regional hospital located just 12 kms down the road with six orthopedic surgeons, 72 physicians, an on-site helipad, and all of the equipment you could possibly want in the event of an emergency.

We’re serious about racing. And we’re even more serious about safety.

PARENTAL ADVISORYBash Gates Not Your Sanity

You know the dri l l… You travel al l day—or more—to a race venue only to f ind that your “home” for the foreseeable future is a hodgepodge of experiences that never quite “cl ick” and leave you frustrated after spending so much t ime and money on your young athletes.

Have you ever felt l ike you or your k ids spent more t ime on l i fts than on-snow?

Did you have to choose whether to watch your son’s run OR your daughter ’s due to logist ical issues?

Was the snow so var iable that i t seemed unfair?

Did you only get WiFi in that one nasty corner by the staff restroom?

Did it feel l ike you were always wasting t ime gett ing from A to B only to be told that you actual ly needed to be. . .at C?

Forget hockey moms! At Legacy we know that without race parents, there are no ski racers. Period. Few other sports require the parental involvement of U14 or U16 racing and few other sports require the kind of f inancial outlay and travel t ime that race famil ies consider “normal .”

CONTROLLING THE WEATHERHigh-Effi ciency Snow Making

Building a truly Next Level training Centre at Red Mountain Resort meant building a venue that will hold up to the special demands of pre-season training as well as mid-winter races. To that end, The Legacy Training Centre has invested over $ 1,500,000 on state-of-the-art snowmaking to make sure that Red is “racer ready” even in mid-November.

In the summer of 2014 we purchased brand new best-in-class Techno Alpin snow guns,

recognized as the most effective snowmaking equipment on the planet. Temperatures on Red Mountain Resort are consistently cold enough for snowmaking around mid-November and we’ll be fully ready when training season begins in mid November.

Our increased snowmaking capacity puts us on par with many East Coast resorts that rely on snowmaking throughout the season but, at Red, it’s only for Legacy and the many races held on our hallowed slopes throughout the year.

We want to guarantee the best training and race surfaces possible and an even playing field for all of the athletes. At The Legacy Training Centre at RED Mountain Resort, we are 100-percent committed to delivering impeccable racing conditions
