LETTER FROM THE ADMINISTRATORLee’s Summit is celebrating something big, a 150th birthday! One thing we can all agree

on is that Lee’s Summit brings together the best of it all, the historical nature of its roots all the

way to the growing, vibrant, community

we live in today! Wherever you find yourself

in Lee’s Summit, whether it be a cozy neighborhood, one of our exciting shopping centers, or the vibrant downtown district,

Lee’s Summit has found

a way to touch the

lives of our citizens. Our award-winning Parks and Recreation department is an important part of our community too. We serve hundreds of thousands of residents who get to experience high quality programs, special events, and well maintained neighborhood parks offered to our community each year.

This spring and summer you can enjoy the addition of the Pickle Ball Courts and updated tennis courts at Upper Banner Park, the continued expansion of the RevUP wellness program,

66 miles of trails, the newly renovated

(and new community favorite destination) Lea McKeighan Park South, the second season for our popular

Community Gardens at Bailey Farm Park, our second dog park, and more. We’re

committed to both competitive and recreation youth sports and to show this we’ve added practice fields and batting cages in support of youth softball, soccer and baseball. In addition, we’ve added more fitness classes for adults and members of our three community centers. There will be numerous classes and special events like our summer concert series, Legacy

Blast Fireworks, and the work of our dedicated sports associations providing quality youth sports programs for over 10,000 kids.

This is all made possible by the dedicated, professional staff of Parks and Recreation,

the Park Board, City Council, our patrons, and of course, our incredible volunteers (over 2,500 strong). Lee’s Summit is a great place to live, work, and play and we continue to be proud to be a part of this thriving and caring community. Every age, every season is more than a slogan – it’s a promise.

“Before RevUP I had almost no energy didn’t have much desire to work out any more and was making very poor eating choices. Several people at the Police Department had told me the results they had so I thought I would give it a try. My initial goals were to lose enough weight to Zip Line during a family vacation to celebrate my youngest son graduating high school. I made that goal plus some to spare. I am now in Reload and still working hard and losing the pounds. Jenny is great at training because she understands the battle. Aryn gave excellent advice and pointers as part of HEED. I highly recommend this for anyone that is fighting the battle to stay healthy.” - Rodger Bowers
