Understanding what is a High Bay Fixture

• High Bays are units that, as itsname and description tells you,are installed in high ceiling lightapplications.

• The High Bay can be identified bythe space seen between thefixture bell housing and the ballastbox as seen in pictures on RHside.

• As the name implies, they areused in lower ceiling applications.In these applications it’s mostcommon that the fixture will havesome type of lens on the low bayfixture.

• Low Bay fixtures can be identifiedby the ballast box being installedat the base of the fixture bell, asseen on RH side picture.

The measurement ordiameter we talk about isacross the opening atthe bottom. Normally ifyou have the partnumber and brand ofexisting fixture you havethe diameter. Standardunits will normally be16”, 18”, 22” and 24”diameter.



• It’s important that you have anunderstanding and general knowledge oflighting and light fixtures. Like any otherproduct there are several manufacturers.Each has a brand and model number andmost have industry standard sizes.

• For a High bay or Low Bay retrofit weprovide the following:

• LED plate, driver, High or Low Baymounting bracket (same for both), riserpipe (riser pipe connector screws into theHID bulb socket).

• For us to cut the correct trim plate youhave to provide us the fixture diameter.This would be the widest part of the fixture.Looking up from the ground it would be theedge of the fixture.

The trim kit has multiple purposes. It isdesigned to prevent dirt or dust access, toprevent birds from forming nests on top ofthe heat sink, and to provide goodaesthetics from below.

If you install a lens on the bottom of theHigh or Low Bay fixture, there is no need forthe round trim kit.



Simple, easy steps for retrofitting new or existingHigh Bay or Low Bay fixtures - changing them from

high electric consumption to low electricconsumption in just a few minutes.



• Disconnect electrical current to fixture.Disconnect security chains and lower the High orLow Bay fixture to a safe working location to startthe retrofitting process. (Units can also beretrofitted without taking down).

• Take appropriate precautions. Use all safetyequipment required by local, state and federalagencies.

• Only certified electrical contractors shouldconduct this type of work.

• Follow all manufacturer installation and safetyprocedures without exception.


Installation Safety:


Properly protect fixturehousing as not to damage.Remove HID lamp anddiscard in an approvedcontainer at environmentallyapproved locations by yourstate or federal regulators.


Installation Procedure:


Remove screws from ballastelectrical box. Remove existingballast and transformer.In the same area that old ballastwas located, install the LEDdriver, pass wires to connect withelectrical incoming current andpass the LED cables via theremoved lamp housing to connectwith the LED plate.




Installing this retro fit kit isbasically like changing aconventional lamp andballast. All we do is use theexisting fixture and upgradeto LED. IT’S THAT SIMPLE.

Before you screw in the riserpipe and LED plate to theHigh or Low Bay housing,install the bell housing, thenconnect the wires and screwon the LED plate via the riserpipe.
