Hyperlinks
• “Hyperlinks allow you to access documents or web pages related to features.”
• These hyperlinks can only be accessed for each feature using the Hyperlinktool.
• It can be accessed by:
• Table of Contents
• Layer Properties
• HTML Popups
• To launched hyperlink, the feature must be clicked by a Hyperlink tool.
• It can defined on the base of:
• Field base from attribute table

Types of Hyperlinks
• Document:
• When you click a feature with the Hyperlink tool, a document or file is opened using itsappropriate application (such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Photo editor, etc.).
• URL (Uniform Source Locator):
• When you click a feature with the Hyperlink tool, a web page is launched in your webbrowser.
• Script:
• When you click a feature with the Hyperlink tool, a feature value is sent to a script.This option enables the use of customized behaviour.
• Named as “Macro” in ArcGIS 9.3

• One must have to add a Text Field in attribute table to be hyperlinked.
• Fill it with the complete path with extension, like:
• D:\Folder\File_Name.extension
• Extension should be mentioned, otherwise it will not open the file by usingHyperlink Tool.
• Once the file is removed from the given path, it will surely give the error onopening.
• If data has to move, repair the links after that.
• The hyperlinked area will be highlighted in Dark Blue Color.
• It is the indication of which part of feature is linked.

• The hyperlinked highlight color can be changed.
• But default in Dark Blue Hollow outline.
• Any document can be linked, like:
• Word
• Excel
• Text
• Image
• Web pages
• All the files will be opened in their respective or default programs.

Identify Tool
• It will helps to identify the geographic feature by:
• Clicking on them, or
• By dragging a box around it.
• It will shows the data about the Top-Most layer, by default.
• But one can adjust to see the other layers by clicking on it.
• It will give location and other field values.
• On right clicking, it will shows the options about Hyperlinking and managing of it.
• And all other options.
