Leaving Main Next Year? If you are planning to move from Main Elementary during the summer and have not notified the office, please do so ASAP. Once you have registered at your child’s new school. Records will be mailed to your new school in August.
Please stop by the office and fill out a Withdrawal Form or a Release of Records form. You may also send a note requesting a form be sent home or fill out the form on-line and return the completed form to the office. Students who are going on to Ferguson next school
year need not fill out this form unless you are moving
out of the Beavercreek City School District area.
Students going to other elementary schools or
Ankeney Middle School in the Beavercreek School
District should fill out a form so your child’s records
will be sent to the appropriate school.
If you are not sure you are leaving, but there may be a
chance you will be leaving, please fill out the
withdrawal form in the office and mark the “uncertain”
line. Your child will be placed in a class for the next
school year until we definitely hear you will be leaving.
Please notify the office by May 11 so we may
better plan for the 2012-2013 school year.
If needed, use the attached form.

Library Tales Miss Jones Springtime fun is in full bloom here at Main Library.
The primary grades have enjoyed story times on such
topics as baby chicks, birds, bunnies, and the season of
spring. They have also worked on genre identification,
parts of a non-fiction book, and fairy tale retellings.
Kindergartners have been learning about series books,
the difference between make believe books and books
of facts, and how to create a summary. The upper
grades have been learning about the art of storytelling
and its many forms. They have also continued to
develop their reference and research skills with various
hands-on projects.
All grades are continuing to work on their library skills.
This includes proper book care, locating books on the
shelf, and learning about the Dewey Decimal System,
and the differences between fiction and non-fiction
books. The upper grades are continuing to develop
their research and information gathering skills as well.
Mrs. Pratt and I are very pleased with their progress
and all their hard work
Please help the children to remember to bring their
library books back on time and encourage them to
share with you what we have done during library time.
Happy Reading!

Trampolines - by Shirley Boone, RN – school nurse
Many parents buy trampolines for their children
believing that trampolines are toys that will provide
hours of outdoor fun for kids. What they do not realize
is that home-use trampolines actually cause most of the
overall trampoline-related injuries. The American
Academy of Pediatrics has gone so far as to recommend
that parents never purchase them for home and never
allow their children to jump on them at someone else’s
home.
Most trampoline-related injuries are fractures and
sprains. The AAP News adds cuts, strain and spinal
injuries and adds that boys and girls are injured at
approximately the same rate.
Over 20 percent of injuries to the spinal cord are caused
by trampoline use and are due to jumpers bumping into
each other, trying to do stunts, falling off or falling into
the springs.
Trampoline Safety:
Only one person on the trampoline at a time
No somersaults
Keep springs covered with padding
Do not place trampoline near trees or other structures
Only allow children over age 6 on trampolines
Place an enclosure around trampoline
Supervise all children on trampoline
Homeowners should check with their insurance
company before purchasing a trampoline.
