In this lesson, we will learn how to make hot apples as a class

We will apply math skills we have learned to count the ingredients

Each student will help contribute counting and measuring all ingredients to make this yummy treat!

We will need the following…

1) Smocks2) Crock pot3) Apples4) All ingredients and spices5) Cooking utensils 6) Happy Smiles!

Now let’s take a look at the recipe!

Recipe for Hot Apples

o 10 apples- peeled and sliced o 1 ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamono ¼ teaspoon allspiceo ¾ cup milko 2 tablespoons butter, softened o ¾ cup sugaro 2 eggso 1 teaspoon vanilla, for tasteo 1 ½ cup Bisquicko 1/3 cup brown sugaro 3 tablespoons cold butter

Now that we have looked

making Hot Apples

1. Clean and cut apples2. Toss apples in a large bowl with

cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg3. Combine milk, softened butter,

sugar, eggs, vanilla and ½ cup Bisquick

4. Spoon over apples

Now that we have looked

5. Combine the 1 cup Bisquick & brown sugar

6. Cut the butter into the mixture until crumbly

7. Sprinkle the mixture over the top of the other Bisquick mixture

8. Cover and cook on low in crock pot for 5 hours or until apples are soft

Let’s Bake them!

At your table please look through the provided cook books

Pick at least TWO recipes you are interested in learning to make

You will be making these recipes over the next two weeks at home

We can prepare by finding that

the class about…

Stay at you table until your group is

o Each group will be called up to the cooking table to help prepare our “Hot Apples”

o When your waiting your group’s turn is when you will look over the material in the cook book

o Please be patient- we will all get our turn to help count and measure!

Group number 1 will help wash the apples and toss them in the large bowl with 1 ¼ teaspoons ground cinnamon, place lightly in Crockpot

Group number 2 will combine milk, softened butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla & the ½ cup of Bisquick then spoon over the apples

Group number 3 will combine the 1 cup Bisquick & brown sugar, cut the butter into the mixture until crumbly sprinkle over the mixture, cover and cook on low for 5 hours or until apples are soft
