This document describes an opportunity for developing specialized competencies in the acquisition of cloud-enabled IT services. A Learning Path is an assembly of experiential, developmental, and informal learning activities designed to improve competencies and gain practical expertise in a specialized area of focus, such as Information Technology. This document describes an opportunity for developing specialized competencies in the acquisition of cloud-enabled IT services.
A Learning Path is an assembly of experiential, developmental, and informal learning activities designed to improve competencies and gain practical expertise in a specialized area of focus, such as Information Technology.
Participants who complete the Learning Path will participate in a series of self-directed and virtual collaboration events under the guidance of a facilitator who curates materials and creates exercises to address the needs of each individual learner.

• Participants will be responsible for completing activities on the Learning Path during a four week course of study.
• A total of 5 Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) may be earned each week by completing Path activities.
• Total CLPs earned allows the learner to demonstrate expertise and knowledge gained.
• CLPs can be earned for both group and individual exercises to enable participant flexibility and accommodate changing schedules.
• There is no expectation that participants will earn the full allotment. • Opportunities to earn CLPs will be curated by the Learning Path
facilitator in a menu-style format, so participants can choose which activities are most appropriate for their needs.
• Independent study opportunities are available on a case-by-case basis.

Online learning will include guided research* and case studies in the acquisition of cloud, as well as team-based exercises to transfer knowledge into practice.
In-Person networking and informal problem solving sessions, plus right-of-first-refusal access to area seminars and professional association events.
• Attendance at in-person events is not mandatory for program completion, with the exception of the final application event
Virtual Collaboration events provide the opportunity for additional group work, and will be facilitated via an open collaboration forum to enable social and informal learning.
• This forum will also serve as an open archive of participant work throughout the Learning Path, so that knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned are available for use by the broader community.
*All participants will receive a free, 30-day trial subscription to ASI’s Virtual Acquisition Office™ to support their research efforts

The self-directed nature of the Learning Path enables flexibility, fosters intrinsic motivation, and
decreases time away from the job while preserving the benefits of social and informal learning.

The application event represents the final assessment in Learning Path_Cloud.
Participants will be assessed on their application of knowledge gained during the program to solving cloud acquisition challenges.
Solutions will be posted on a the Learning Path open collaboration forum, which is accessible to all interested parties, to promote and extend the value of this collective learning effort.
The application event may include individual and team challenges based on issues that arise during the course of program completion. All challenges will be completed during this in-person, live event.
• Challenges and scenarios can also be submitted by industry and agency representatives.

The inaugural Cloud Computing Learning Path Application Event will be hosted by Amazon Web Services at its Public Sector Forum on June 26, 2014.
