CURRICULUM CONNECTIONS

LIFE PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES:

PROGRAM OUTCOME/S:

PO2: Utilize advanced concepts, skills, processes, technologies or research in the

scientific disciplines to create and implement innovations or workable solutions that

improve or preserve life, the environment, disaster preparedness, or the field of science.

LPO1: Mindful, Self-directed LEARNERS and ROLE MODELS

I am a mindful, self-directed learner and role model, consciously expressing my Faith.

LPO2: Courageous, Resourceful EXPLORERS & PROBLEM SOLVERS

I am a courageous, resourceful explorer and problem solver, demonstrating my

creativity and charism.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES:

EPO 2: Initiate Science activities that show others that going beyond their customary

ways of dealing with things is clearly possible;

MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES

CONTENT STANDARDS:

The learners demonstrate understanding of:

the relation of geographical location of the Philippines to its environment

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

The learners should be able to.

analyze the advantage of the location of the Philippines in relation to the climate,

weather, and seasons

The learners will:

Cite and explain ways of using Earth’s resources sustainably

the different phenomena that occur in the atmosphere

Discuss how energy from the Sun interacts with the layers of the atmosphere S7ES-IVd-

5

Account for the occurrence of land and sea breezes, monsoons, and inter tropical

convergence zone (ITCZ) S7ES-IVf-7

the relationship of the seasons and the position of the Sun in the sky Using models,

relate:

a. the tilt of the Earth to the length of daytime

b. the length of daytime to the amount of energy received

c. the position of the Earth in its orbit to the height of the Sun in the sky

d. the height of the Sun in the sky to the amount of energy received S7ES-IVh-9 387

e. the latitude of an area to the amount of energy the area receives 6 tilt of the Earth

and the seasons the occurrence of eclipses

Explain how solar and lunar eclipses occur using models

Lesson 3: THe BoDIes of WAteR On EARtH AND in tHe PHiliPPInes

At the end of this lesson you will learn more about:

formation of water currents

uses of water

humans consumption of water

problems that affect the quality of coastal water

sources of water pollution

effects of water pollution

proper was to improve ways to improve water quality

Lesson 4: THe EARtH’s NATURAl ResoURCes

At the end of this lesson you will learn more about:

Earth’s natural resources

UNIT II: InteRACtion in tHe AtMOSPHERe

This unit focuses on the natural processes happening in the atmosphere and how

much effect it has on humans and other living organisms. It starts with the different

layers of the atmosphere and the components of each layer. The students would get

information on how changes in the atmosphere would affect their activities.

Lesson 1: CoMPOSition AND LAYERs Of tHe AtMOSPHeRe

Composition of atmosphere

Atmospheric layers

Greenhouse effect and global warming

Types and sources of greenhouse gases

Lesson 2: AtMOSPHeRe’s Role in WeAtHeR PHenoMENA

Atmospheric conditions that affect weather

Lesson 3: AtMOSPHeRic Pollution

Natural activities that pollute the atmosphere

Different types of atmospheric pollutants

Effects of water pollution

Effects of acid precipitation

UNIT III: SeASOns AND EcliPSe

This unit focuses on the characteristics of the Earth. It describes how the planet revolves

around the sun while rotating around its axis. This will explain how the earth’s seasons are

formed, the differences between the length of the day and night.

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of the lesson the learners are expected to:

Explain ways of using Earths resources

Explain how greenhouse effect and global warming affect the environment

Explain how some human activities affect the atmosphere

Show what causes changes in the season in the Philippines

Explain how solar and lunar eclipses occurs
