Water Systems
Without Water??
Where do we get our water from?
Read pages 272-273.
The Great Lakes provide almost 10 Million Canadians and more than 30 million Americans with fresh drinking water
LEARNING GOALS1. I AM LEARNING THE DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN SALT WATER AND FRESH WATER
2. I AM LEARNING HOW THE WATER CYCLE WORKS

Glaciers: Rivers of IceLesson 4.10
Glaciers- masses of ice and snow built up over a thousands of years
A continental glacier covers the entire continent of Anatarctica. Another covers most of the island of Greendland
Glaciers
The large sheets of ice on the Arctic Ocean are called Polar ice caps. It is not a glacier because it lies over water NOT land.
Last ice age- 2 million years ago spread ice across North America. When they melted the remains included Greenland and Antarctica.
Ocean Currents
Learning Goals:
I am learning about the five main gyres of the worldI am learning about convectional currents
The Ocean Conveyer and Convection Current
Current- movement in water
Convectional Current- currents caused by temperature differences
Overturns- occurs in the spring and fall, when convectional currents mix the surface and bottom waters.
