Alternative Spring Break -Service in Ecuador
13 students and 2 staff members travelledto Quito and Tena and conducted avariety of service activities withunderserved and indigenous populations.

A comprehensive program to promote student success inside andoutside the classroom with guided activities and mentorship. Students also participate in service activities at UHD and in local,regional and international communities.

Dr. Pedroza has been working oncommunity-based projects with studentsin most of the classes he has been teachingfor the past eight years. In a givensemester, Dr. Pedroza has 3 - 5 SL-designated courses. He also mentorsstudents with their community projects.Dr. Pedroza believes students canexperience deep learning by connectingclassroom topics with community issues.
Anibeth completed herMBA degree from UHD in2019, and is active in theNorthside community. Shereceived two grants fromCCESL to create beautifulgraffiti art in theneighborhood. The projectshown is on North MainStreet.
