Lesson 5. What is a rainforest climate?
We are learning about tropical rainforests. Find out about the features of a tropical
climate to help you create a double page spread to answer the learning question – what
is a rainforest climate?
Tricky Trickier Trickiest
You must:
-Include key
information about
tropical climates
-Include average
rainfall and
temperature
After completing the points in
tricky, you could: -What is it like in the rainforest
because of the type of climate it has?
-Add information to compare a
tropical climate to the climate here in
the UK (What type of climate do we
have? What is it like? How does it
compare?)
To challenge yourself further:
- Answer: Why do
climates vary so much?
Why are they so
different?

Lesson 6. What are the layers of the rainforest?
Research the layers of the rainforest using the links provided. These is also a help sheet in
the back of this booklet which might help you. Then create your own double scrap book
spread to answer the question – what are the layers of the rainforest? This is a good
opportunity for some lovely art to show the layers and the animals found there – be
creative!
Tricky Trickier Trickiest
You must: - Label and describe each
layer (types of plants and
trees)
-Show and label the animals
that you might find there at
least 2 per layer
After completing the points
in tricky, you could: -Add any additional
information you find about the
layers – this might include a
description of what they are
like.
To challenge yourself
further:
Answer: Why are the
layers so different? What
causes this variation?

Lesson 7 - How important are rainforest plants?
Many things are made from the plants which grow in the rainforest. These include: rubber, wood,

here. Then create a double page spread to answer the learning question.
Tricky Trickier Trickiest
You must: -Include an introduction
-Find out and write about 3 different
rainforest plants.
-Draw the plants
-Include a conclusion or summary at
the end to answer the learning
question – how important are
rainforest plants?
After completing the points
in tricky, you could:
-Could you include a plant
from each of the layers of
the rainforest? Or try to
include one from each
layer…
To challenge yourself
further:
Answer: Which plan do you
think is the most important?
Most valuable? Most
dangerous? Most
interesting?
