A BIT MORE ABOUT CHARLIEBACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
WHAT IS TAUGHT IN THE LESSONS?
Charlie has over ten years experience tutoring guitar and ukulele in schools. He holds an honours degree in Contemporary Music, a Grade 8 Certificate from Trinity Guildhall in Classical Guitar, works as an examiner for the London College of Music & has authored two instructional guitar ebooks which continue to sell worldwide.
The tutors that Charlie partners with have extensive experience in delivering group tuition for children & specialise in providing dynamic and engaging lessons. Most of all, they all insist that music lessons HAVE to be fun!
Students starting ukulele lessons will learn from ‘My First Ukulele: Book For Kids,’ a comprehensive learning method for children which focusses on learning to play songs, whilst developing a firm foundation and technique.
There is also a great deal of additional music taught. From the latest pop songs to movie themes, TV shows and lots of music related activities. The emphasis of the lessons is to teach the students whilst engaging them, using music as a way of developing their confidence and encouraging them to play together.
A combination of UCAS linked syllabuses from RGT, Rockschool and Trinity Guildhall are taught once a firm foundation has been established. This gives the students the opportunity to study the instrument further and gain qualifications if they wish.
Charlie recognises the importance of safeguarding children and his responsibility to do so. The DBS Certificate and that of tutors working on his behalf are given to the school. He also ensures that he and tutors working with him are kept up to date with each individual schools child protection and safeguarding procedures.
