Inaugural Address by the Chief Guest

Mr. Hemant M NerurkarChairmanTRL Krosaki Refractories Limited

Inaugural Address Summit Theme: Sustained Lean Transformation

Lean consciousness developed in manufacturing, now envelops organization in every sectors. In a rapidly changing business environment, the meaning, scope and tools of lean keep changing. The prolonged economic slump at home and overseas has challenged Indian enterprises like never before. The demand is either weak or it is shifting because of new technologies. There is little pricing power at a time when costs are rising. Also, regulations are becoming stricter and compliance is becoming a major issue. These dynamic challenges demand adequate and swift management response. Creditably, many Indian organizations have reinvented lean management to adapt to the changing world. The successful organizations are leveraging IT and Big Data to develop and market products, to overcome the shortage of infrastructure and talent, and to address the environmental concerns. However, for the organizations to sustain, lean management has to anticipate the change, and even lead the change.

Yoram Bosc HaddadCorporate Vice President Capgemini (Paris) &Senior Partner- Ylios (Paris)

Plenary Speaker

Plenary SubjectLean in digital distributed value chain:

Capgemini’s Lean transformation began with a so-called “Business as Unusual” bottom-up approach sponsored form the top. Real field impact and new change dynamics was the main stakes, a daunting task given the breadth & depth of a 100,000+ organization.

In an entrepreneur culture keen to heroic fire-fighting beha¬vior with compliance oriented quality, it was key to find the good timing and way to introduce standard work through “Cap¬ge¬mini Lean Foundations” and “Digital Distributed Delivery”.

What started as internal consulting became an “evolution program” driven by front line people and by clients. It is now a network of Lean offices, with 15 000+ people having changed deeply their ways of working and solving problems through intense day-to-day coaching by Changes Agents.

Convincing P/L leaders of tangible KPI impacts, engaging middle management governance and sustaining continuous maturity improvement have been constant endeavours in “learning by doing and improving from issues”.
