Indonesia is an archipelago with more than 17.504 islands, laying over 3.000 miles from east to west with the most strategic lanes in the world. As a maritime nation Indonesia has abundant natural resources of marine and fisheries both renewable and non-renewable. Therefore, the fishery industry has economic value and provide jobs for the people. In recent years, the coastal economic of fisheries, aquaculture, energy and mineral resources, marine tourism, marine transportation and marine industries and service sectors accounted for 3,4% of GDP and employed 20 million people. Vision government in encouraging Indonesia as “Global Maritime Axis” became an important step forward in the development of grater maritime strategy. The vision is not only focused on maritime security, but also a shift towards a maritime power. The government promises to significantly improve marine infrastructure in Indonesia, reduce logistic costs, increase economic growth and reduce gap between remote island in Eastern Indonesia with hubs in the Western part. One of the five main pillars for realizing the vision is to maintain and manage marine resources, with a focus on the development of food sovereignty through the development of the fishing industry. Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) as one of the sprearheads implementation of the government’s vision has an important role in maintaining and managing marine resources and fisheries. The management or utilization through the fisheries industry is focused on supporting the developmen of food sovereignty. One of the important fisheries industry is the aquatic product processing industry. The development of this industry to support the achievement of the vision of the government needs the support of science and technology are applied. Therefore, the results of research and technological innovation from institutions/organizations need to be shared with fellow researchers and also disseminated to the end users.
