Bespoke Hinges

With over two centuries of experience in the hinges industry, Gold and Wassall provides a fully-comprehensive design and manufacturing service for any kind of hinge for any kind of application.

However large, small, simple or complex your requirement, we can design and manufacture in most materials, offering a wide range of finishes to give you the optimum solution..

Presswork

With press capacity of up to 160 tons, we provide a design and manufacturing service for specialist pressings in all materials.

Single operation and multi-stage tooling (hand or air fed) are designed and manufactured in our own toolroom. Presswork from free-issue tooling is also undertaken.

Pressbrake

Pressbrake capacity of up to 50 tons and up to 2,500mm is available for all materials up to 4mm.

Rolled Pieces

We can roll plates in any material up to 6mm with any inside roll diameter. Rolled pieces can be drilled and cranked as required.

Toolmaking and Wire Eroding

Specialising in the design and manufacture of press tools, our in-house toolroom offers subcontracting facilities for toolmaking and wire eroding.

At Gold and Wassall we offer both a standard range of continuous hinges and a bespoke design and manufacturing service to suit your particular requirement. Our ‘Castle’ range can be made from ¾” open to 12” open in 22g up to 3⁄16” material right up to 96” lengths.

72” continuous hinges without holes and self-colour are always available from stock for immediate despatch, and unless otherwise specified, are supplied as follows:

Continuous Hinges

Condition 1

This condition applies where an engineering drawing is supplied. We will ensure that holes are pierced exactly in accordance with the drawing, usually by making a piercing tool specially for that particular hinge.

Condition 2

This condition applies where no engineering drawing has been supplied, and where tools have not been made specially for the hinge. Under this condition we will pierce holes from our stock, standard tools.

This will result in:• holes not lining up with pre-drilled holes in other components• holes that may not be consistent from batch to batch• holes that may not be consistent from hinge to hinge

The following pages detail our standard range of butt & backflap hinges, which are supplied flat-backed, undrilled and with riveted pins unless otherwise stated. These hinges can be used as they are, or can be re-worked, cranked, pierced, cropped, reverse-jointed etc. to your own specification.

In addition to standard blanks, the majority of items are also available with standard piercing – see drawings showing piercing details.

Holes are accurately pierced to match pre-drilled components in sheet metalwork. Please note that for joinery and woodwork (No. 5050–1838-400 etc.) hinges are not offered for use with pre-drilled components and do not have hole positions dimensioned.
