Level 1 – Simplistic answer explaining that cinema became popular in the 1920s [1 mark]
Level 2 – Simple inference explaining the role of cinema talking about the increase in excess of 120% over 9 years. Examines the use of advertising perhaps or comments on big queues = more leisure time, more profits
[2-3 marks]
Level 3 – Developed answer. Cinema was part of the wide ranging explosion in leisure time created in ‘roaring 20s’. It became a multi-billion dollar industry, stemmed from Hollywood. May mention sports, jazz, radio.
