Leading Dredging & Reclamation Training Course Returns!
Course Overview:
This 5-day course has been specifically broken down into 2 sessions, firstly on dredging and secondly on reclamation, and is designed to provide you with a complete guide to planning and executing dredging & reclamation projects. The comprehensive agenda covers all the necessary knowledge of the project stages, stakeholder management, as well as physical & chemical properties of the sediments, managing environmental impacts resulting from dredging and reclamation works and how these can be minimized through project planning and environmental management during execution. In addition to presentations of the subjects, participants will be challenged in actual project case studies to apply the principles discussed.
Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, successful participants will have a solid understanding about different types of dredging equipment and boundary conditions for their use, state-of-the-art dredging and reclamation techniques including environmental measures as well as site & soil conditions and improvement. They will know how to overcome geo-technical challenges, mitigate the risks of a dredging & reclamation project, manage dredging & reclamation plans and budgets as well as minimizing the environmental impacts from the dredged materials. Project case studies during the course will give participants the opportunity to see how those principals during the course are applied in real-life projects.
Who should attend:
This Course is aimed at: • Engineers (Dredging Engineers, Civil engineers, Environmental Engineers,
Operations Engineers, Principal Engineers, Planning Directors) and practitioners representing project owners
• Professionals from port, coastal and environmental authorities • Dredging & Reclamation Contractors • Dredging & Reclamation Consultants
Special! You can choose to attend both or either of the sessions! Mix & Match!

About your Expert Trainer Faculty:
The Experienced Master of Dredging & Reclamation
He graduated with a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering and started his professional
career as a research engineer and production estimator with Costain
Blankevoort Dredging Company in 1978. During the late seventies and the early
eighties, he worked on many dredgers as a trouble-shooter, meanwhile
developing measurement systems for the automation of the data acquisition
process.
After being employed for a few years by an automation company, specialised in
the automation of dredging processes, he joined Boskalis in 1987. He started as
a research engineer. From the early nineties until 1998 he was a member of the
soils group of the estimating department, and therefore involved with all kinds
of dredging related geological and geotechnical problems. As a senior project
engineer for Hydronamic, the Boskalis in house engineering department he has
coordinated tenders and project designs. From 2003 until 2009 he managed all
technical and environmental work during the preparation and execution of the
Channel Deepening Project in Melbourne Australia. Then, he worked as
environmental manager on the Gorgon Barrow Island Project during the
preparation phase. After his return to the Netherlands, he has been working as
a senior engineer at the Boskalis head office in the Netherlands. From his
retirement in 2014, he has been involved in education such as dredging
simulator instructor and e-learning course development for the Dutch dredging
branch organisation.
