• distributed leadership – characterized by a trust and respect of each member’s contribution to the group. It happens most effectively when people at all levels engage in the action, accepting leadership and taking initiative in their particular areas of expertise.

• instrumental leader (task-oriented leader) - an individual who tries to keep the group moving toward its goals

• transformational leader – one who generates positive changes within the group and who is concerned with helping each member of the group

• authoritarian/autocratic leader - an individual who leads by giving orders while accepting little input from others
