The Opportunity The Chancellor and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia seek an inspiring, visionary, servant leader as the next president of the College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA). CCGA’s next president will be an energetic and creative leader who will build upon the college’s remarkable success and boldly embrace new opportunities for the future. The College seeks a proven, successful leader with a deep understanding of and experience in higher education; a record of achievement in leading and managing growth and change in a complex organization; knowledge of contemporary best practices in strategic planning and data-based decision making; a collaborative approach to leadership; a deep abiding interest in student success and academic excellence; a proven ability to lead the college’s fundraising efforts; and the skills to develop productive relationships with all members of CCGA’s community. The successful candidate will be a collaborative problem-solver who can engage the community in further developing and executing a clear, proactive and distinctive vision for CCGA that serves the region and sustains the College on the path to a successful future by recognizing opportunities for growth and distinction, while simultaneously managing the College within its financial model. As leader, the president will be available, engaged, and invested in an environment that values teaching and learning, and supports faculty in the pursuit of academic excellence. The president will be a leader of impeccable integrity and judgment who is perceived as genuine and sincere. The College seeks a strong collaborator who will foster a culture of trust, positivity and respect, who has a strong desire to build upon key elements of CCGA’s history and to adapt and change where appropriate to meet emerging challenges and opportunities. The College seeks a leader who generates excitement about the institution, connects and engages meaningfully across multiple constituencies, is committed to shared governance, and embodies an unwavering dedication to students and their success. CCGA is an undergraduate, public institution of higher education and is part of the 28-institution University System of Georgia. Located on the southeast Atlantic coast in the port city of Brunswick, midway between Savannah and Jacksonville, Florida, the College provides an affordable and interactive education in the natural beauty and abundant sunshine of Georgia’s Golden Isles, an area noted for world-class golf courses and resorts, as well as amazing diversity of coastal and marine habitats, wildlife and natural resources. The College Faculty relish and support student interaction, serving as mentors, advisors, co-authors, and even interveners on behalf of students beyond the hours of classroom preparation and teaching. Students are known by name, not only by classmates, but by faculty and staff. The vision of the College is to be a college of choice for students within Georgia and beyond, providing an accessible and affordable high quality education. Advocating excellence in scholarship and community engagement, the College promotes student leadership, academic progression, and timely graduation through student-centered programs. With the growing number of baccalaureate degree programs, international study, and wide range of student activities, the College offers a rich and diverse student experience. Opportunities and Expectations for Leadership CCGA’s next president will join a vibrant and supportive community with an unwavering dedication to students. To lead successfully, the next president must address the following interconnected issues: Establish a Vision and Lead Strategically CCGA’s many constituents are extremely excited about the College’s future and untapped potential. The next president has a remarkable opportunity to shape CCGA’s evolving identity and secure a strong position in the higher education landscape. The next president will join the institution at a critical juncture as it lays the groundwork for the next generation of growth and achievement. The president is expected to work closely with senior leadership, the faculty, the community, students, and staff to develop and reify an inspiring vision that will honor the College’s past and build on its strengths while developing initiatives to ensure its future. CCGA’s internal and external constituents are confident that their deep sense of community, commitment, and sincere desire for the College to flourish will serve as the foundation for their success. The president will be expected to provide steadfast and collaborative leadership in shaping a shared vision and strategy, to engage the CCGA community in making the decisions that will enable the College to succeed, and to ensure that CCGA’s resources are aligned with the vision. The next president must be fluent in the current and emerging issues in higher education, particularly the challenges of providing quality programs while growing enrollment in a constrained fiscal environment. Grow Enrollment The next president will provide the leadership, wisdom and creative guidance to steer CCGA successfully through a period of growth in a manner that ultimately ensures the long-term sustainability and growth of the financial resources necessary to fulfill the College’s mission. Maintaining momentum on enrollment growth remains a key opportunity for the next president to address that will require continued efforts to enhance the College’s reputation and visibility while maintaining excellence in ways that grow enrollment and net revenue. As competition for students and resources increase, CCGA must be strategic about its message, innovative program development and where it will market its distinctive programs. The new president will finalize the ongoing process of creating a strategic enrollment plan based on the internal and external assessment of enrollment. Spearhead Fundraising Efforts Acquiring resources is critical to the growth and progress of CCGA and the next president must play a key role in this process by providing overall direction to the strategies implemented to cultivate support and raise necessary funds. The president will have demonstrated both a talent and an enthusiasm for fundraising which includes the personal and social skills to cultivate

financial support and partnerships in the private sector. As a result, the next president must work with the Foundation Board and staff to develop a strong base of support aligned with the strategic plan, design creative funding approaches, and target increasing external support from friends and business leaders in the community. The next president will be expected to further develop sustainable and productive relationships with alumni and friends in an effort to create awareness of and ultimately generate financial support for the College. Foster a Strong Sense of Community CCGA is distinctive in its sense of community. The College community is still small enough that it is possible to forge personal relationships with virtually every member of the College and with much of the greater community. We seek a president who will reinforce the close knit, caring, and student centered environment that engenders trust and sets apart the College from other institutions. The sense of pride and ownership among the members of the community also raise expectations for access to and involvement in decision-making. The next president will be expected to become a member of a community that expects transparency in communication and a collaborative approach to discussing and solving challenges and realizing opportunities. It is a community in which people know each other well, and value respect and collegiality. Given (or notwithstanding) this pride and affinity for CCGA, there remains untapped potential to foster an even stronger sense of community on campus. The next president will be a visible community leader who is deeply engaged with organizations and individuals both on and off campus. It is vital that the president recognize their especially influential role in the community and their impact on the region. There is an energy and a desire to catapult the region in terms of economic development and cultural activities. Build and Lead a Strong Organization

CCGA is on an upward trajectory and the next president will play a critical role in sustaining or increasing it in order to assure a strong and well-functioning organization, particularly with regard to programs and people. As a growing institution, it is given that CCGA will need to adjust policies, procedures, and staffing incrementally over time. The next president will maintain and grow healthy working relationships and inspire high morale concurrent with additional growth and change. CCGA benefits from a superb faculty who are committed to the student/faculty relationship and quality instruction. The president will foster a culture in support of faculty with a commitment to provide academic development, leadership and training opportunities, as well as furthering a robust system of faculty governance. The next president will have the opportunity to hire his/her own provost.

College of Coastal Georgia: An Overview The College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA) is located in Brunswick, Georgia, midway between Savannah, Georgia, and Jacksonville, Florida. The campus is situated in the center of the Golden Isles, a growing community of more than 100,000 people. CCGA is a four-year state college that includes an off-campus instructional site (Camden Center) in Kingsland, Georgia. As one of 28 institutions in the University System of Georgia (USG), the CCGA abides by policies and procedures established by the Board of Regents. In June 2008, with approval from the Board of Regents, Coastal Georgia Community College became the College of Coastal Georgia, authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees, following its designation as a state college within the University System. In December 2008, the College was granted initial approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as a Level II institution to offer five new baccalaureate degree programs – Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business; Bachelor of Science in Education in Early Childhood/Special Education; Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (pre-licensure), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN). In March 2009, as part of the transition to state college status, the College sought and received approval to discontinue its technical college programs effective July 2009. At its June 2010 Board of Trustees meeting, SACSCOC re-confirmed the College as a Level II institution authorized to offer baccalaureate degrees. Since that time, the College has developed 13 additional baccalaureate degree programs, bringing the total to 18 as of November 2017.

Strategic Plan The College of Coastal Georgia has seen a tremendous change over the past several years. The initial strategic master plan, 2020 Vision, provided the roadmap as the College of Coastal Georgia made the successful transition from a two-year community college to a four-year state college with trail-blazing rapidity. But as rapid as that change has been, the landscape of higher education in Georgia is shifting faster than the sandbanks along the St. Simons Island beach.

During the 2014-15 academic year, the College undertook an inclusive, rigorous and synergistic strategic planning process. Through thoughtful deliberation and reflection, five strategic themes (Student Enrichment, Academic Excellence, Institutional Distinction, Leadership through Community Engagement & Partnerships, and Sustainability & Organizational Development) were formulated to serve as key pillars with foundational strategic goals and objectives to support the College’s mission, vision and core values. The result of this planning process was the creation of Coastal Vision 2021. This institutional strategic plan provides Schools, departments, and offices on both the Brunswick campus and Camden Center a guide for navigating through planning and resource allocation decisions. www.ccga.edu/strategicplan
