Funding

The event’s start-up funding will come from the James River Baseball Program’s existing account. The revenue raised from the sale of tickets will be used to service the costs of numerous necessities, including but not limited to: cost of venue, catering/alcohol, casino game rentals, decorations, invitations, etc. The ticket price has yet to be determined.

· Last year, the Silent auction portion of the night was not as successful as was hoped because of the nature of the venue (the casino games were upstairs and the auction was downstairs). This year, it will be more integrated into the venue’s layout so that it is more accessible. Furthermore, one prize will be auctioned live in order to increase awareness of the auction.

· Attendees often used “on the housemoney”, but they did not purchase more once it was spent. The ticket price was high, so they spent less on games. To avoid this obstacle, the ticket price of the event may be lowered so that more people can attend. Additionally, a free babysitting service will be provided to help decrease the overall cost of attendance.

· Idle lines of people waiting to order drinks detract from the casino atmosphere. It will benefit business to increase the number of bar tables from one to two and to increase the number of bartenders from two to four.

· Obtaining alcoholic beverages may be an issue because suppliers will not be willing to provide alcohol to a project run by underage students. It will need to be obtained under the direction of our advisor or the parent committee.

Erin Rieck will be focusing on the casino aspect of the event. She will primarily work with the booking of casino games, reserving a caterer and alcohol provider, and obtaining corporate sponsorship. Erin Weidenmuller will take charge of the silent auction portion of the event. She will focus on obtaining donations for the silent auction, invitations, advertising, and marketing.
