Ways Principal O'Connor can implement collaboration at Hickory Ridge High School PLCs Teacher Mentoring Program Co-Teaching SMART committee
All these programs will lead to teacher empowerment
Committees and Collaboration
Groups of staff members focused on improvement in learning and best practices through collaborative teams
Can change an organization from the inside Assist in building shared governance and collaboration
among teachers and the school as a whole Provide time for open dialogue and sharing of best
practices Principal O'Connor can mix a variety of staff members to
support unity and focus on a common vision
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
Research shows that PLCs will improve collaboration Create honest and open communication between staff Based on subject area Meet bi-weekly to share best practices and technology
use Meeting will be documented to be discussed with
whole school Principal O'Connor
Include himself in PLCs Interaction with staff will be a good motivator
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
Help reduce the division between two groups Pair new hires with experienced teachers Share knowledge between the two
Technology and experience within the community
Directive for groups will come from teacher leaders
Meet at least bi-monthly and observe each other monthly
Document meetings
Mentoring Program
Co-teaching would make a “natural pairing” among teachers
Two teachers of different subjects sharing a class and collaborating with each other
Teachers will teach his/her primary subject and observe when the other teacher is teaching
More intensive style of mentoring Principal O'Connor could use
Working toward a collaborative culture with a shared vision
Co-Teaching

Strengthen the new leadership style and culture of the school
Another way Principal O'Connor can nurture, acknowledge, and recognize the new culture.
