Context Hyde Technology school is an 11-16 community high school of 950 students Became a specialist Technology College in 1996 Gained Leading Edge and Training School status in 2004 Part of an Excellence Cluster and the Leadership Incentive Collaborative A mentor school in the SSAT Raising Achievement Transforming Learning programme

Context 28% of students are eligible for free school meals 19% of students are of Bangladeshi origin In 1995, students gained 19% A*-C, in 2003 this rose to 63%

The way we were The school had invested in the ICT infrastructure, with over 300 networked computers, an ICT support staff consisting of an Information Systems Manager, a Network Manager and 2 network technicians There were 11 ICT suites attached to curriculum areas to enhance the learning opportunities available for all students 7 teaching areas were equipped with interactive whiteboards

Extensive programme of ICT training for all staff

Employed 1.5 Web Developers

Invested in 4 additional ICT suites and increased the number of stations to 450

Increased interactive whiteboards from 7 to 40

Created a pod of 25 wireless PC tablets

ICT professionally underpins and supports learning and teaching Effective data management and tracking systems ICT for all students at KS4 for 4 hours a week. In 2005, 90% gained a pass or higher for a GNVQ Full Award 24/7 remote access to school network Introduction of Kaleidos as a VLE
