Objective

Participants will be introduced to leadership to help them understand it, see it in the right perspective and be able to lead themselves before leading others.

Definition

There are tons of definitions to choose from when it comes to the subject of leadership. These definitions obviously include the very simple ones to the very complex ones. Most of them will be right in one way or the other but may not cover the entire definition or detail of what leadership should be so I will stick with one of the very simple ones coming from John C. Maxwell.

According to John C. Maxwell, Leadership is influence.

His definition is that simple but it leaves us with loads of questions and answers so we begin with what influence is in order to understand his statement.

Influence• The power to effect, control or manipulate something or

someone, the ability to change the development of fluctuating things such as conduct, thoughts or decisions.

• An action exerted by a person or thing with such power or another to cause change
