I was first introduced to Prezi last August during our on-campus orientation projects. As a “MS office suite” devotee, I was amazed at the functionality, flexibility and adaptability this tool offered compared to powerpoint. In order to access Prezi presentations, one must have a Prezi account and software downloaded for viewing. As such, for purposes of this assignment, I have provided screen shots of Prezi’s functionality.

I compare Prezi to an artists canvas. The application allows you to “group” ideas together and moves across the canvas as the presentation develops. For example, you will see the “projector image” in the first screen shot is part of a larger group of ideas below. The zoom in/zoom out functionality provides the ability to focus on key points but also tie them to the larger concept. The Prezi site provides several

“how to” tutorials and the process of creating the presentation is very intuitive and user friendly.

Signing up for an account is easy and they have special “student” promotions. Additionally, there is an iPad app that allows you to view your presentations on the tablet. The Prezi site will also store your presentations “in the cloud” if you need to access them remotely.
