St. Patrick’s 80th Anniversary Fund Raising Dinner. St. Patrick’s School continued its 80th Anniversary celebration with a fund raising dinner at the Marina Mandarin Hotel last July 19, 2013. The guest of honor for the dinner was Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam. Also present were Ambassador Joe Hayes (Ireland), Archbishop Nicholas Chia, LEAD Visitor Br. Edmundo Fernandez, PARC General Councilor Br. David Hawke, LEAD Auxiliary Visitor Br. Thomas Lavin. 

The ballroom was filled to capacity; around 630 alumni (some of whom brought their families), Brothers, Lasallian partners and avid supporters of St. Patrick’s were there to commemorate this important milestone in the story of St. Pat's. Brian Richmond, noted radio personality, was the evening’s master of ceremonies. 

One of the highlights of the evening was the auction which raised SGD 141,500.00. The most contested item of the evening was a replica of Br. Joseph McNally’s sculpture “Counselor II”; it sold for SGD 40,000.00.  Most of the proceeds of the fund raising will go to the construction of a new sports facility for St. Pat’s.

Br. Rodrigo's Visit to Myanmar. As part of his accompaniment of the sector of Myanmar, Br. Rodrigo Trevino made his first "long" visit to the sector. He arrived on the on 12 July and the next day he went to visit St. Paul's community where he was able to interview Brs. John La Maung, Anselm Balthazar and Edward Soe.  July 14 was devoted to the council meeting. On the evening of the 14th he took a ten and a half hour bus trip to Kalaw accompanied by Br. Hillary.

In Kalaw, he was able to interview Br. Moris, director of the Come and See program. He was able to see the boys individually as well.  He took the bus going back to Yangon on the 16th and arrived in the morning of the 17th. He had time to interview some Brothers in the Provincialate before flying out to Japan in the evening. All in all a very rich experience for him as he continues to discover and understand the Brothers and Lasallian Family of Myanmar. Thanks to Lawrence, Ling John, Hillary and Moris for looking after Rodrigo!

EIJL and WYD. Our contingent to the International Lasallian Youth Gathering on 20 - 22 July in La Salle Niteroi, Brazil and World Youth Day on 23 - 28 July in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, has arrived safe and sound and has met with Brother Superior, Br. Alvaro.

The delegation is composed of students from De La Salle University - Manila, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, De La Salle Santiago Zobel School and De La Salle University - Dasmariñas. Prior to their departure from the Philippines, the delegates had preparatory orientations and sessions on Catechism with different resource persons including Br. Rey Mejias and Ms. Vaness Abella. Leading the current delegation is Philippine Sector Vocations Coordinator, Br. Alex Diaz.
