OLYMPUSGas and steam turbine controlsHeinzmann offers control systems for all
types of turbo-machinery. Heinzmann’s
turbine controller XiOS is available
pre-programmed with gas or steam
turbine software for user configuration
to most applications. XiOS is hardware
expandable with extra inputs and
outputs to support generator control
and all turbine core engine functions.
XiOS can form the core of a larger PLC
application or is powerful enough to
perform the whole of the control for a
turbine application. XiOS is cost-effective
to be used for small applications and is
powerful and expandable for use in large
applications.
Heinzmann also offers a triple modular
redundant overspeed trip unit to
provide high integrity backup overspeed
protection for turbine controls systems.
Features Premium environmental
specification for rotating machinery application, 18-32 VDC power supply range, 4g vibration tolerance, wide temperature range
Generator control/monitoring hardware version available for synchronising/load control and monitoring
Purpose designed digital turbine speed measurement
Hardware expandable
Ethernet IP and Modbus networking options to integrate with other controls, operators panels, etc.
CoDeSys software with powerful floating point processing to improve and simplify programming
Explosion-proof housings available for hazardous are installation (ATEX Ex’d’ Zone 1 iia and iib)

HIGH InTEGrITY OVErSPEED TrIP UnIT
This unit operates on the triple modular redundancy principle. It has three identical speed measurement channels which are continually self-tested to check their functionality. The channels may each be fed by a single speed probe but better by three separate probes. The channels all vote through simple hardware and two must agree in order to signal overspeed or not signal overspeed. Any faulty channel is annunciated and may be replaced without loss of protection or the need to shut down the turbine.
The unit operates from either one, two or three standard 24 VDC power sources and provides a high specification failsafe dry contact output circuit to feed into the safety shutdown function required in most control systems.
The unit has noise rejecting differential speed input processing functions in each channel and is compatible with most magnetic speed pickup types used on turbo-machinery. Each channel outputs a squared amplified signal derived from the measured input frequency for use by other equipment.
STEAM TUrbInE COnTrOLUser configurable software available with the following functionality:
Í Dual redundant speed measurement
Í Boiler, intermediate and exhaust pressure measurement
Í Linearized position demand outputs for steam admission and intermediate pressure control valves (including sequencing of multiple valves each pressure)
Í Full staged start sequencing with reference for cold, warm and hot starts, avoidance of up to two critical speeds
Í Speed control (droop or isochronous)
Í Synchronisation and load control (with optional generator control hardware)
Í Extraction pressure control for up to three steam extraction lines with full decoupling between perturbations for speed/load and each extraction pressure. User configurable priority on extraction pressure control in case of steam limitation.
Í Load limiting when operating against grid. Load limitation to maintain boiler pressure or limit reduction of boiler pressure.
Í Alarm and trip sequencing on all abnormal conditions with first up trip resolution to 10 ms
Í Space and performance for user software for

HEINZMANN offers custom designed turbine control systems based on HEINZMANN or customers choice of PLC controllers. We will provide fully integrated panels for generator, compressor or pump applications with open software access and title to all software licences transferred to the customer for PLC systems.
HEINZMANN offer simplex or redundant system designs using proprietary hardware for operators interface, vibration monitoring, generator AVR and protection, flame monitoring and of course HEINZMANN’s own generator, fuel and air control products.
We offer remote monitoring via cable, wireless or internet.
Customers who operate turbo-machinery of diverse types and sizes can obtain upgrade controls for all of their turbine applications from HEINZMANN. These controls will all operate according to a common design philosophy and use common spares improving convenience, simplicity and minimising training/maintenance budgets.
HEINZMANN offers its services to provide on-going maintenance of turbo-machinery and controls. We also offer overhaul and relocation/upgrade services including finding and supply of new or used equipment.
