Parable of the Good Samaritan

A certain man went down from Jerusalemto Jericho, and fell among thieves, whostripped him of his clothing, wounded him,and departed, leaving him for dead.

Now by chance a certain priest came downthat road. And when he saw him, he passedby on the other side. Likewise a Levite [templeassistant], when he arrived at the place, cameand looked, and passed by on the other side.

Un uomo scendeva da Gerusalemme aGerico, e simbatt in ladroni i quali,

spogliatolo e feritolo, se ne andaronolasciandolo mezzo morto.

Or, per caso, un sacerdote scendeva per quella stessa via; e veduto costui, pass oltredal lato opposto. Cos pure un levita [unassistente nel Tempio], giunto a quel luogo evedutolo, pass oltre dal lato opposto.

But a certain Samaritan [a peopledespised and shunned by the Jews of thosedays], as he journeyed, came where he was.And when he saw him, he had compassion.So he went to him, bandaged his wounds,brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

On the next day, when he departed, hetook out two denarii, gave them to theinnkeeper, and said to him, Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when Icome again, I will repay you.

With the story of the GoodSamaritan, Jesus taught thatour neighbor is anyone who

needs our help. If we havelove, we cant just pass bysomeone in need; well takeaction, like the Samaritan did.

The Parable of the Rich Fool

A rich mans farm produced a bigcrop, and he said to himself, Whatcan I do? I dont have a place largeenough to store everything.

Later, he said, Now I know what

Ill do. Ill tear down my barns andbuild bigger ones, where I can storeall my grain and other goods.

The Parable of the Prodigal Son

Once a man had two sons. The youngerson said to his father, Give me my share of the property. So the father divided hisproperty between his two sons.

Not long after that, the younger sonpacked up his things and left for a foreigncountry, where he wasted all his money inwild living.

Un uomo aveva due figli. Un giorno il

minore disse al padre: "Voglio subito la miaparte d'eredit". Il padre, allora, divise i benifra i due figli.

Alcuni giorni dopo, il figlio minore, fatti ibagagli, part per un paese lontano. Vi ilfiglio pi giovane sperper i suoi beni,vivendo dissolutamente.

Proprio quando aveva speso tutto, scoppiouna grande carestia in tutto il paese, edegli inizio a trovarsi in gravi difficolt.

Si mise allora al

servizio di unabitante di quelpaese, che lomando a pascolarei maiali. Eratalmente affamato,

che era tentatoperfino da cio chemangiavano imaiali.

Finalmente, ilfiglio minore disse

`tra s: "Ritorneroa casa da miopadre e gli diro:

'Padre, non sono pi degno di essere chiamatotuo figlio, ma, ti prego, prendimi come servo!Cos deciso, il giovane si preparo e si mise in

viaggio per andare dal padre.

After he had spent everything, a badfamine spread through that whole land.Soon the son had nothing to eat.

He went to

work for a man inthat country, andthe man sent himout to take careof his pigs. He wasso hungry that he

would have beenglad to eat whatthe pigs wereeating.

Finally, the sondecided, "I will go

home to my fatherand tell him,'Father, I'm notgood enough to be your son anymore;please let me be one of your servants. Theson then left and started his journey home.

When he was still a ways away from hisfather's house, the father saw him. The fatherwas filled with compassion for his son and ranup to him and hugged and kissed him.

The father then said to the servants, Hurryand bring the best clothes and put them onhim. Give him a ring for his finger and sandalsfor his feet. We will eat and be merry, becausemy son who was lost and has now been found.

And they began to celebrate.

Mentre era ancora lontano suo padre lo videe corse, lo abbraccio e lo bacio.

Il padre disse ai servi: "Svelti, portate il vestito pi bello che abbiamo in casa eaiutatelo ad indossarlo! Mettetegli un anello al dito e sandali ai piedi! Mangiamo e facciamo

festa, perch questo mio figlio era perduto ed stato ritrovato". Cos cominciarono la festa.

Qualsiasi cosa sia successa o possasuccedere, non perdiamo mai valoreagli occhi di Dio. Per Lui, siete sempreinestimabili.
