• Remember to add the following endings to the irregular verb stems on the next page:

-ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont(*NOTE that all endings except nous & vous endings are the verb avoir, and the nous & vous forms are –er verb endings.)

Verbs with irregular stems, but regular endings:

aller → ir J’irai, tu iras...

avoir → aur J’aurai, tu auras…

devoir → devr Je devrai…

être → ser Je serai…

faire → fer Je ferai…

pouvoir → pourr Je pourrai…

venir → viendr Je viendrai…

voir → verr Je verrai…

vouloir → voudr Je voudr…

Verbs with spelling changes in the present tense like appeler and acheter also have spelling changes in the future:

• J’achèterai une carte téléphonique et j’appellerai mes parents.– I will buy a telephone card and will call my

parents.
