INTER-DPS SPORTS EVENTS 2017-18
OVERALL MEDAL TALLY – SECOND POSITION
Under the aegis of the DPS Society a total of 36 Inter-DPS sports and games events were conducted at the zonal and National level in the academic year 2017-18. A total of 135 schools and 5702 students participated in these events. DPS Vasant Kunj stands proud at the Second Position in the Overall Medal Tally.
INTER-DPS WESTERN MUSIC NATIONAL LEVEL COMPETITION
The Western Music Group of DPS Vasant Kunj, IRUS participated in the Inter-DPS National
Western Music Festival-2017, organised by the DPS Society at DPS Greater Noida on 16th
Dec 2017.
In the Solo Category, Aastha Mohapatra (XI) won the First Prize accompanied by Aniket Jain
(XI).
In the Group Category, our school stood Second Runners-Up. The Team members were as
follows:

“LE ACCOMPLISSEMENT”
The French Embassy and Institut Francais organized “Know Your Indo-French Heritage” – an Inter-School National Level Competition on 18th January 2018. In the final leg of the competition, Abhavya Jha (XI), Aryan Chauhan (XI), Saumya Gangwar (X), N. Sriya (X) and their Teacher Co-ordinator Ms. Adita Saxena, TGT French, designed a game which won unanimous appreciation and bagged the coveted First Prize. The team has won a free trip to France.
Inter DPS Commerce competition ,VANIJYA was organised by DPS Chandigarh on 25th
November. The competition consisted of 3 online and 5 onsite events.

3: Aperture – The hunt for the ClickSmart
Onsite Events:

Our school bagged the 1st prize in expressions stand up comedy. Its participants were Rohan
Bhatia(XI-J) and Rishi Sharma(XII-I).
We also won the second prize in bizmania the business quiz whose participants were Eshan Uniyal
(XII-F) and Aaryaman Arora(XII-I)
In the online events our school was awarded the second prize in epeolatry: The hunt for the
Litsmart.
DPS Vasant Kunj also bagged the overall trophy for online and onsite events.
Delhi School Sports Little Master Cricket Championship was organized by The British
School, Chanakya Puri between 16th to 17th December 2017. DPS Vasant Kunj won the
championship defeating Modern School, Vasant Vihar in the finals. In the prize distribution
ceremony Chief Guest ‘R P Singh’ former Indian Cricket player presented prizes to the
players. Arjun Berry of Class V was declared the ‘Man of the Series’ and Shaurya of class
V was declared the ‘Best Bowler’ of the tournament.
Inter DPS National Basketball Tournament Girls (Open) 2017
Inter DPS National Basketball Tournament Girls (Open) was organized by DPS, Mathura
Road from 15th to 17th December 2017 under the aegis of The DPS Society.
DPS, Vasant Kunj won the tournament defeating DPS, Bangalore in the final. Ms Khushi
Ahlawat of Class – X of our school was adjudged the Best Player of the tournament.
DPS RK Puram organized an Inter School Computer Competition on 25th and
26th November 2017. Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj secured the Overall 1st

Brainwave ‘17
Manavsthali School, New Rajendera Nagar organised the 30th iteration of their annual Brainwave quiz on the 21st of November, 2017. The general quiz consisted of 3 rounds : preliminary, semi-final ,and final rounds. With over 50 teams participating from all over Delhi, Tuhin Ghose, Ameek Singh and Mrityunjay Shukla of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj came 3rd in the onstage final.
Essay Writing Competition
SAK Rabbani (VII) won the First Prize in Essay Writing Competition organized by CBSE under
the celebration pertaining to Vigilance Awareness Week during 30th October to 4th November
2017. The theme of the competition was “My Vision – Corruption Free India.”
Careers 360 – The Education Hub Careers 360 has awarded an “AAAAA’ grade to DPS Vasant Kunj for the academic year 2017-
18, having evaluated the infrastructure, faculty quality and student attainment in the board exam.
4TH NANHI CHHAAN NATIONAL SCHOOL ESSAY WRITING
CONTEST 2017 Shiuli Sural, Class X, was one of the fifteen finalists in this prestigious competition, out of 500
plus contestants from all over India. She participated in the finals, held in Chennai, on 18th and
19th September, 2017 and was awarded a Certificate of Merit and a Samsung Smartphone for her
commendable efforts.
Inter School Computer Competition ‘CORE 10’ – DPS Dwarka
Delhi Public School, Dwarka organized an Inter School Computer Competition

Inter School Computer Competition “Dynamix“
Ramjas School R. K. Puram organized an Inter School Computer Competition “Dynamix “on 24th
Oct, 2017. Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj secured the Overall 1st position.
Individual prizes are as follows:
Nixon Rathore and Atishay Jain secured the 1st position in the Surprise event.
Nixon Rathore and Aayan Sabri secured the 1st Position in the Gaming event
.Arimit Bhattacharya and Naman Sood secured the 1st position in the Creative event.
Aditya Shukla and Tanish Kapur secured the 3rd position in the Inspect Element Event. Dhruva
Raja and Rohan Garg secured the 2nd Position in the Quiz.
Eshan Uniyal secured the 3rd position in the Group Discussion.
First position was also bagged by Delhi Public school Vasant Kunj in the team events named
Vortex and D-Cypher.
THE SPORTS ARENA CAPTURED
The right stroke, the right shoot, the right hit and the right move defined the success of many
a budding sportsmen and sportswomen at DPS Vasant Kunj. Their talent, honed to
perfection by incessant practice and able guidance, stood unveiled in the face of stiff
competition :
Basketball Tournament
The school Girls Basketball Team has qualified for the All India Inter-DPS Basketball Tournament
2017. The Zonal was held at DPS International Saket from
06th October to 08th October 2017. The Girl’s Basketball Team of DPS Vasant Kunj emerged the
winner by defeating DPS R.K.Puram in the final. The team, hence, qualified for the National Inter-
DPS Basketball Tournament to be held at DPS Mathura Road.
Shreshi Singh (XII) and Khushi Ahlawat (X) were adjudged the Best Defender and Best Player
of the tournament respectively.
Inter-DPS International Table Tennis Tournament for Boys (Open)
The tournament was held at DPS Palwal from 27th October to 28th October 2017. A total of 28
teams participated in the tournament. Arjun Verma (X) of our school, secured the Second Position
in the Singles Category.
Inter-DPS International Athletics Championship
The Girls Athletics team won the Overall Championship of the International Inter-DPS Athletics
Meet organized by DPS Gr. Noida from 26th to 28th October 2017. A total of 53 schools
participated in the meet.
Inter-DPS National Badminton Girls (Open) Tournament Inter-DPS National Badminton Girls (Open) Tournament 2017-18 was held at DPS Jaipur from
27th-29th October 2017. Kavya Gupta (X) and Shivani Yadav (XI) emerged as a winner in doubles
category. Kavya Gupta bagged second position in singles category and was also declared as a
best player of the tournament. A total of 28 schools from all over the country participated in the
tournament.
Poster Making Competition
An Inter-School Poster Making Competition was held on 30th October 2017 at August
Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Cama Place, Africa Avenue, New Delhi in observance of
Vigilance Awareness Week. Budding artists from over 80 schools designed powerful
posters on the topic. “My Vision : Corruption Free India”. Aanshu and Ananya of class XI
participated in the competition and won the First Prize. They received gifts and certificates.
Zonal DPS Basketball Tournament
Zonal DPS Basketball Tournament was held at DPS International Saket from 06th Oct to
08th Oct 2017. Girl’s Basketball Team of DPS Vasant Kunj remains winner by defeating
DPS RK Puram in the final. The team has qualified for All India Inter DPS Basketball
Tournament.
Shreshi Singh of Class XII and Khushi Ahlawat of Class X, both from our school were
adjudged best defender and best player of the tournament respectively.
Zonal Basketball Boys & Girls Basketball tournament
Delhi Public School,Vasant Kunj organized Zonal Boys & Girls Basketball tournament from
19th to 28th Aug 2017. In the boy’s category, 49 teams from 16 different schools and in
the girl’s category, 43 teams from 15 schools participated in various categories.

INTACH Heritage Quiz
INTACH organised the prestigious INTACH Heritage quiz on 4th September 2017. 130
teams covering 65 schools from all over Delhi participated in this event. Kavya Chopra
and Vagish Nangia of class 9-C emerged victorious by securing the second position after
facing 2 gruelling rounds. They were awarded merit certificates and books.
Champions Galore
The students of DPS Vasant Kunj, recently added many a glorious feather to its cap by winning a chaplet of competitions in the Inter-School arena.
o The young debaters of our school lifted the prestigious Aaj Tak Cup in the Hindi Debate held at
Vasant Valley School.
o Many a budding artists outshone at the performing arts festival – GOONJ 2017 organised by DPS
Gurgaon, bagging the Overall Trophy.
o The School Orchestra strung the right chords at DPS R.K. Puram to win the First Prize.
o In addition, the Code Warriors of DPS Vasant Kunj made us proud when they were declared the
winners at MINET 2017 – an Inter – School Computer Competition, organised by Mothers
International School, Aurbindo Marg.
Richik Vivek Sen of DPS Vasant Kunj, New Delhi selected by Stanford University,
California for Summer College Program 2017
Adding to our achievements, class 12th student Richik Vivek Sen has been invited and admitted
by Stanford University, California to a selective program of Stanford High School Summer
College during Summer 2017. (24th June - 20th August, 2017)
ASIA PACIFIC GERMAN OLYMPIAD : REPORT
Mihika Dutta of class XI-F participated in the Asia Pacific German Olympiad (APDO) held in
Bangkok and Rayong from 12th to 20th August 2017. She was one of the 7 students who
represented India at the Olympiad, in which a total of 77 students from 10 different countries
namely: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Phillipines, Thailand,
Vietnam and India had participated.
The Olympiad was conducted by the Goethe Institut, Thailand in collaboration with the Goethe
Institut of the 10 participating countries. The exam was conducted at 2 proficiency levels namely
A1 and A2 and comprised of presentations and a written section.
Mihika won the silver certificate at the A2 level. Her interview by a German journalist will be
uploaded on the Goethe website soon. Mihika was also appreciated for her semi-classical dance
performance which was part of the cultural show put up by Team India at the closing ceremony
in Bangkok.
MINET 2017
Mothers International School organized an Inter School Computer Competition on
17th -18th Aug, 2017. Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj secured the Overall 1st
position.
Nixon Rathore and Eshan Uniyal secured the 1st Position in Surprise event. Krithik
Ranjan and Aayush Sabharwal secured the 3rd Position in Programming. Nixon
Negi and Aayan Sabri secured the 2nd Position in Gaming. Dhruva Raja and Rohan
Garg secured the 1st Position in Quiz.
Arohan-Hindi Debate
DPS RK Puram organized Arohan Interschool Hindi Debate competition on 11thn August, 2017.
Total 37 schools from Delhi and NCR participated in the event. Anannya Agarwal of class 8- B
won 2nd prize.
Mathematics Department Achievements
Vortex 2017, an Interschool Mathematics Symposium was held at Delhi Public
School, Rohini, on 3rd August 2017. Aahan Tyagi and Meghal Sachdev of class XII
A and XII B respectively secured the First Position in Quiz. Parth Raina and Aryan
Chauhan of classes XII G and XII C were awarded the Third Position in Problem
Solving. Udit Grover and Ayush Chopra too bagged the Third Position in the
Surprise Event.
Expressions 2017 was held at Army Public School, Shankar Vihar, on 15th July
2017 where Kavya Chopra and Neelabh Kashyap secured the First Position in
Matheasure Hunt.
New Green Fields School, Alaknanda, organized Zenith 2017, an Interschool
Mathematics Quiz, on 27 th April 2017. Meghal Sachdev and Aahan Tyagi secured
the First Position and were awarded 1500/- cash each.
Munshi Memorial Interschool Sanskrit Recitation Competition
Prishita Sharma of class X-B bagged the third prize in the Munshi Memorial
Interschool Sanskrit Recitation Competition, organised by The Bhartiya Vidya
Bhawan’s Mehta Vidyalaya on 5th May 2017.
Sanskrit-Hindi Interschool competition
Mother’s International School held an Sanskrit-Hindi Interschool competition on 9th
August 2017 in which Prishita Sharma and Prisha Jain, both of class X-B,
participated in the Sanskrit speech competition and the self composed poetry
competition respectively.Prishita Sharma was awarded the 2nd prize along with a
cash prize of Rs.750.
Goonj – A Street Play Interschool Compettion
A team of 10 students from classes IX – XII exhibited an exemplary performance in
a Street Play competition organised by D.P.S. Sector-45, Gurugram, as a part of their
interschool competition – Goonj.
They were awarded the 1st prize and our school also won the overall trophy in the
same.

Event: “Rotary Thanks Giving Ceremony” for the year 2016-17, held on 28th June 2017 at the Indian Spinal Injuries Center Auditorium, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.
Then the Governers Award for Excellence for “Outstanding Interact Project : Project Saarthi” was presented to Ms. Adita Saxena by PDG Ranjan Dhingra and Sudhir Bahuguna for the Project Saarthi.
The event was concluded with the donation of two wheel chairs on behalf of Sudhir and Runjhun Bahuguna.
Cheers to the Stupendous Socratic Scholar and the Amazing La La
Landers
Aditya Shukla, of XI-B, bagged the Gold Medal in the ‘Socratic Seminar’ Event at DPS
Dwarka’s prestigious ‘Luminarium’- the Annual English Literary Festival held on 4th August,
2017. He emerged as the Winner after two rounds of stiff competition which included a group
discussion and a minute long speech on ‘Julius Caesar’, the renowned Shakespearean Masterpiece.
The event saw nineteen prestigious schools from Delhi/NCR participating.
In yet another event at the festival, a team of four Class XI students, Arushi Malhotra, Aastha
Mohapatra, Aniket Jain and Jahnavi Khanna, performed brilliantly and secured the Third
position in the ‘La La Land’ event.
“Symsci (2017) – Symposium on Science”
“Symsci 2017” was organized by St. Columba’s school on 28th Jul 2017 for students of class 10th
to encourage and give new opportunities to students to showcase their presentation skills on the
topic control and co-ordination in the field of BIOLOGY and model making on satellite and
communication.
A team of four students of class 10th from our school – Neelabh Kashyap, Sahastra Dev, Riya
Sawhney and Chinmay Mittal won the 2nd prize for their presentation which was very well
presented and comprehensible.
A team of two students of class 10th from our school – Tarush Tandon and Sunayan Naukashi won
the 2nd prize in model making for their concept and idea in Satellite & Communication.
Aaj Tak Cup Hindi Debate Competition
DPS Vasant Kunj bagged the First Prize at the Aaj Tak Cup Hindi Debate Competition held at Vasant Valley
School, Vasant Kunj. The team comprising of Jigyasu Pant, Prahlad Shankar Verma & Siddharth of class XI
qualified for the final round and won the trophy.
Kartikeya Goel of class Xth A has participated in the International Basketball Youth Tournament in
Paris World Games 2017 from 8th July to 12th July representing India. He finished the game with the
2nd Postion and silver medal.
Inter- DPS Information Technology Festival 2017
Delhi Public School R.K.Puram organized an Inter- DPS Information Technology Festival 2017
under the aegis of the Delhi Public School Society on 25th, 26th and 29th of July 2017.
Nixon Rathore secured the 1st Position in the Online Event - DeCryptonite v6.0 which was held
on 25th and 26th July 2017 .
Dhruva Raja , Rohan Garg and Shashwat Dash secured the 1st Position in the Senior Quiz. Ramit
Grover and Vedanta Neogi secured the 1st Position in the Junior Quiz.
'Kaleidoscope'
DPS Rohini organised the competition 'Kaleidoscope'. It started with the panel discussion where the school counsellor of DPS Vasant Kunj, Dr Shalini Prasad was invited as one of the panelist for the topic "Overcoming Challenges and Barriers in Inclusion at School and Community level". It was followed by events like Bolbala- Movie making competition, Abhivyakti- Poem Recitation, Avmukta- Poster making competition, Vivechan- English Debate and Jagrit. Our school won the second prize in Movie making competition 'Bolbala' and received the 'Excellent Performance Award' in 'Abhivyakti'
'Theatron-2017'
Delhi Public School,Vasant Kunj bagged the First Prize in the 'Stage Play'category in 'Theatron-
2017', an inter-school theatre festival, organized by DPS RK PURAM on 22 July 2017. 18
schools had participated in the event.

CerebroQuake Quiz
New Green Field School, Saket organised the Annual Sh. HK Sharma Memorial Cerebroquake Quiz on 9th May,
2017. The general quiz consisted of 3 rounds, namely the elimination, preliminary and final rounds. With over 15
schools participating from all over Delhi, Tuhin Ghose and Ameek Singh of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj came
1st in the onstage finals and were awarded ₹2500 each.
Mod Quizebate
Modern School, Vasant Vihar organised Mod Quizebate, a quizzing and debating fest on 4th and 5th May, 2017.
With over fifteen prestigious schools from all over Delhi participating, students of DPS Vasant Kunj emerged
victorious in the general quiz; after completing two preliminary rounds, Aryaman Arora and Eshan Uniyal of class 12
and Tuhin Ghose of class 11 finished at 2nd position in the on-stage finals of the quiz.
KOREAN QUIZ REPORT
The Korean Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Embassy of Korea had organized Korean Quiz for
Delhi and NCR schools. Over 50 schools participated from Delhi and NCR Regions . There were three
rounds in the Quiz and Mrityunjay Shukla was among the finalist . MRITYUNJAY SHUKLA(XI-C) of
DPS VASANT KUNJ won the first prize including an all –expenses paid trip to South Korea.

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY)
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY) is a scholarship program funded by the Department
of Science and Technology of the Government of India, aimed at encouraging students to take up
research careers in the areas of basic Science, engineering and medicine. Started in 1999, it is
administered by the Indian Institute of Science. Three students of our school, Ish Kaul, Tanmay
Agarwal and Meghal Sachdeva cleared the first stage of the Aptitude Test held on 6th November
2016 and were called for an interview which marks the final stage of the test. All three have
cleared the final stage and qualified for the award of KVPY fellowship – 2016.
