Who are we?Lancaster City Council HomeImprovement Agency provide a rangeof services to advise and assist peoplewho are older or have disabilities.

Our aim is to help people repair,improve or adapt their homes, so that they may remain comfortable and independent.

How can we help?We can provide impartial advice andassistance on:

• Works of repair and home maintenance• Dealing with builders and other

contractors, and getting quotes• Energy saving• Making your home safe and secure• Living independently and planning your

home for the future• Preventing falls and accidents in the home

• Raising finance to deal with repairs• Advice on your benefits entitlement

• Advice on moving

Handyperson ServiceHelp is available to get the small jobs donearound the home. Typical jobs include:

• Basic plumbing work• Fixing loose carpet and cables• Fixing broken curtain rails• Fitting keysafes, grabrails, handrails etc• Fitting smoke alarms• Fixing door bells and door locks• Repairing loose shelves, cupboard

doors etc• Moving beds or furniture
