The Wagstaff Theatre at the American Royal Complex provided the background for this year’s Ladies of the Royal Sale Nov. 1. This sale annually features some outstanding show and brood cow prospects and has also proven to attract the top cut of Hereford show steer prospects and a select set of embryos.

As Monte Lowderman ceased the gavel for the last time, the 20 females had averaged $3,738, six steers had paced the ring at a $2,500 average and 16 embryos had gathered $440 per embryo.

Steven Muller, Davis, S.D., consigned the top-selling female at $6,500. This fancy show prospect was an April 10, 2008, daughter of LaGrand Reload 80P ET and was selected by repeat buyer Jillian Adams of Springfield, Ohio.

Four L Hereford Farm, Atwood, Tenn., a first-time consignor to the sale, consigned a Jan. 1, 2008, show heifer by GH Rambo 279R. This stout heifer went to Steven Steiner, Union Star, Mo., for $6,000.

Purple Reign Cattle Co., Toulon, Ill., has the reputation of raising good show heifers, and they lived up to this with their sale entry Purple Bev 3U ET, a Feb. 13, 2008, daughter of CS Boomer 29F. Rhiner Polled Herefords, Poynette, Wis., selected this outstanding brood cow prospect at a $5,500 bid.

Sadler Herefords, Tryon, Okla., consigned a Feb. 22, 2008, STAR Bright Future 533P ET heifer that attracted a fair bit of attention. A bid of $5,000 claimed this heifer for Eric Groose, Eugene, Mo.

Jillian Adams claimed the high-selling steer, a son of ECR Precision 6246, for $4,000. Fawcett’s Elm Creek Ranch, Ree Heights, S.D., who has made a reputation of bringing the good ones to Kansas City, consigned this steer.

The Rambo Group, represented by Tom Lane of Four L Herefords, laid claim to the National Junior Hereford Association street sign for a bid of $875.

A standing-room-only crowd was on hand to appraise the offering.
