OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

*** READ BEFORE OPERATING EQUIPMENT ***

1. Preparing parts for Blasting:

All parts to be processed must be free ofoil, grease, and moisture. Make sure partsare dry before putting into cabinet forcleaning.

2. Air Pressure:

Set air pressure at 80 PSI. Most parts forblasting cleaning cabinet should beblasted at 80 PSI. Designate parts to beprocessed, start at lower pressure andwork up the PSI scale to obtain desiredfinish.

***WARNING***

DO NOT CONNECT TO HIGHPRESSURE BOTTLE GAS, RUPTUREAND EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR.

3. Gun Angle and Distance:

Direct blast at part with an approximate(45-60) degree angle with ricochet towardthe back side of cabinet. Do not hold at90 degree to part being processed. Thiswill cause the media to blast to bounceback into the blast stream and slowblasting action. Also 90-degree angle willcause excessive wear on gun and viewingwindow. Hold gun approximately 6 inchesfrom part being cleaned.

***WARNING***

GUN MUST ALWAYS BE POINTEDAWAY FROM THE OPERATOR ANDTOWARD ITEM BEING PROCESSED.NEVER BLAST WITH ANY OF THECABINET DOORS OPEN. WHILELOADING AND UNLOADING, NO ONESHOULD BE AT THE OPERATORSTATION AT FRONT OF THE BLASTCABINET.

4. Media:

Media should be good quality and dry.Damp media will cause the media not toflow and will clog abrasive flow. NEVERUSE SAND. See ** CAUTION **, below. Ifyou are having a problem selecting mediafor a specified job, contact your distributorfor their recommendations.

** CAUTION ** ** CAUTION **

DO NOT USE SAND BLASTING SAND.THIS WILL CAUSE SILICA DUSTWHICH IS THE CAUSE OF SILICOSISDISEASE, A CONDITION OF MASSIVEFIBROSIS OF THE LUNGS.

OPERATING AND SERVICING

CARTRIDGE DUST COLLECTOR

*** READ BEFORE OPERATING EQUIPMENT ***

After installing Dust Collector, it is veryimportant to follow the next steps. This willassure your machine will blast satisfactorilyand have good visibility in blast chamber.(Refer to FIGURE 6 – PAGE 10)

1. Remove RED nuts securing the motorhousing and cartridge holder to dustcollector body. (Item 1) Discard thesenuts, they are not used.

2. Loosen elastic nuts on back corners.Loosen until the elastic is tothe bottom on the bolt thread. This willallow the motor housing and cartridgeholder to rest securely on the gasketseal.

3. To clean cartridge: Turn Dust Collectorswitch off. Grasp lift handle (Item 11),and raise up and down vigorouslyallowing the top housing to thump on thebody lip (#5). Do this repeatedly, untilloose dust on the cartridge (#2) falls offinto the dust sump. This should bedone every 30 minutes of blasting, oreach time before use. It is a good ideaoccasionally to remove motor housingand with 10-15 PSI of airline pressurefrom air nozzle, blow the cartridge pleatsclean.

*** WARNING ***

Use low air pressure ONLY. High airpressure will blow holes in the cartridge,Which will cause premature motor failure.

4. After thumping the cartridge, the draincap (#10), should be removed and thedust emptied from dust collector sumpinto a box, bag or container, forease of disposing.

THIS DUST SHOULD NOT BE REUSED

If dust is detected coming from the ventholes (#9), this is an indication the cartridgeis loose or leaking. Either tighten cartridgeor replace. If not serviced this will causethe motor to fail and bearings to seize.

5. Maintained properly, you will enjoythe performance of this reliable typedust collector.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS*** READ BEFORE OPERATING EQUIPMENT ***

1. Blasting Gun:

After 10 - 12 hours of blasting time the airorifice and nozzle should be checked. Ifthe nozzle shows wear, rotate 1/4 turn toprevent uneven wear. If this is notchecked, it could result in destruction ofnozzle and damage to the gun housing. Ifwear is detected on the orifice tip, replace.

2. Caking of Media:

A. Media caking is caused bymoisture in compressed air supply or oilyand greasy parts. If this is not corrected, media will not flow and will clog gun.Check air supply. If water or moisture ispresent, install a good moisture trap. Ifoily or greasy parts are being blasttreated, you should first degrease and dryparts.

B. If blast gun should occasionallyclog, place thumb over nozzle (hold tight)and push foot valve down 3 to 4 seconds. This will cause the system to back blastthrough the gun and media hose, andclear the media hose.

3. Gun Air Pressure Drop:

Set air regulator at 80 PSI on air gauge.Push foot valve and if gauge readingshould drop, check the air supply pipe orhose. A restriction in the supply line suchas reducers or quick couplers will causepressure drop. Also, if the blast cabinet istoo far from the air compressor, apressure drop can occur. We recommend1/2" - 1" I.D. air supply line. The biggerthe better.

4. Poor Visibility - Excessive Dust:

A. Cabinet Air inlet blocked, check forblockage.

B. Dust collector sump full and needsemptied.

C. Cartridge contaminated. Clean bypushing up and down.(Refer to page 3 - #3).

D. Media breakdown - replace mediaand clean dust collector.

5. Poor Media Flow:

A. Wet or damp media caused frommoisture or oil in compressed airline.

B. Use dry air or install a moisturefilter.

C. Replace media and clean mediasump and hose.

D. Media level should be below mediascreen.

E. Hole in media hose from wear, replace hose assembly.

**CAUTION **CAUTION**

DO NOT OPEN ANY OF THE DOORSWHILE MACHINE IS IN OPERATION

**CAUTION** **CAUTION**

DO NOT USE SAND BLASTING SAND.THIS WILL CAUSE SILICA DUSTWHICH IS THE CAUSE OF SILICOSISDISEASE, A CONDITION OF MASSIVEFIBROSIS OF THE LUNGS.
