LN Student-Athlete of the Week

Kristian Young & Katie Davidson, Basketball and Donavan McCulley, Football Kristian Young and Katie Davidson led the girls basketball team to wins over North Central and New Palestine last week. Davidson played all 36 minutes in the post

against a tall North Central team, picking up 23 points and dishing out 4 assists. Young led the team against New Pal with 20 points, 4 assists, 5 boards

and 3 steals. McCulley was recently named the Marion County Player of the Year by the Marion county football coaches association!

Team Reports Cheerleading: The cheerleaders have put in some new routines for the 2019-20 season! They are ready to cheer on the boys and girls basketball teams this winter! The girls are currently ranked #2 and the boys are #3 in the state! Get in the gym this winter and be a part of the action! The cheerleaders will help you get in the Wildcat spirit! Girls Basketball: The 4A #2 Wildcats (6-0) stayed undefeated with a gritty win over North Central and a road win over New Palestine. In the North Central win, the Cats were down 14-2 in the first quarter before storming back to take the lead by halftime. It was a typical tough MIC contest in the second half, with the Wildcats making key plays at the end to win 70-65. The Wildcats had plenty of balance scoring, with Katie Davidson leading the way with 23 points. Kristian Young had 16, Kalyn Ervin had 12 points with some clutch 3 pointers, and Jayla Smith added 11 points. In the New Pal game, Young had 20 points to lead the team, and power forward Lauren Gunn made her season debut in her first game back from an ACL injury in last year’s state championship game. Lawrence North will host the Charleston’s Classic this Saturday, hosting Castle, Crown Point, and Columbus North. The final game will feature a rematch of the South Semi-State championship game between Castle and Lawrence North. It should be a great day for girls basketball! Pictures courtesy of Mrs. Ampil.

Boys Basketball: The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association preseason poll is out, and the Wildcats are ranked #3 in the state! Congrats to Tony Perkins and D.J. Hughes on making the Indy Star pre-season Super Team! The team traveled to Indiana University this past weekend get watch the IU basketball team practice. They also took in the IU vs Michigan football game and stayed in cabins at Brown County State Park, a great team bonding weekend before the season gets started. The Cats will host the Marion Giants on Friday, December 6th in the Keefer Gym to open up the 2019-20 season. Be sure to get in the gym this winter for some exciting high school basketball action!

Swimming & Diving: The girls team (1-0) opened up the season by defeating Yorktown 92-84 on Thursday night. Winning individual events for the Wildcats included the 200 medley relay team of Sophie Bradburn, Carol Ludington, Emma Pletcher, and Emma Goven, Aariona Spencer in diving, Pletcher in the 100 butterfly, Bradburn in the 100 backstroke, and Ludington in the 100 breaststroke. The girls will be back in action alongside the boys team on Tuesday, December 3rd in a tri-meet against Brebeuf and Chatard. Good start Wildcats!

FREE SWIM LESSONS The Lawrence Swim Team will be offering free swimming lessons on Saturday, December 14th

from 9:00am – 12:00pm at the Lawrence North pool. Children must be at least 2 years old and potty-trained.

Wrestling: The wrestling team hosted the 2nd annual Lawrence Township Wrestlemania Invitational on Saturday. The Wildcats finished 3-1 on the day with Jeremiah Henderson, Excell Brooks, and Aiden Bunce leading the way for LN, all going 4-0 on the day. The wrestlers will host Warren Central on Tuesday night in the Keefer Gym. Come on out and see this exciting group of young men! They are fun to watch!

Winter activity buses will run Monday – Thursday, leaving Lawrence North at

REQUIRED IHSAA PHYSICAL & CONSENT TO TREAT/EMERGENCY FORMS

A new IHSAA physical and consent to treat forms for the 2019-2020 must be on file with the athletic office prior to any workout, open gym, practice, or competition. This is required every

year. There are two links below. One is the IHSAA physical form that must be filled out and turned in to the LN athletic office. The second is the required online consent to treat and

emergency medical information forms.

Both of these are required for any student-athlete for the 2019-20 school year. This includes summer workouts, open gym, conditioning, practice, tryouts, and of any type of

competition. No student-athlete will be permitted to work out until these requirements are completed and

submitted.
