A foul is an infraction defined in Law 12 that can only be committed:

by a player against an opponent who is also a

player (except handling) on the field of play while the ball is in play

1. Takes more than 6 seconds while controlling the ball with their hands before releasing it from their possession

2. Touches ball again with hands prior to touch by another player

3. Touches ball with hands after it is deliberately kicked to him/her by a team-mate

4. Touches ball with hands after receiving it directly from throw-in by team-mate
