Pioneer Fashion Designers like Cristobal Balenciaga (1895-1972) who was born in Guetaria, Spain; Carolina Herrera who was born in Venezuela, Mariano Fortuny (1871) born in Grenada, Spain, and Oscar de la Renta who was born in the Dominican Republic, all had a tremendous impact on fashion. A Brief Introduction about Latin Fashion Week

Sobeidy Vidal, Founder of Latin Fashion Week had a dream to share the style, creativity, and

brilliance of Latin fashion designers in order to demonstrate and generate Latin pride.

Due to many Fashion Historians credit Italian and French designers as being the most influential

and innovative designers but they often forget the impact that Latin Designers have had on

fashion. Pioneer Fashion Designers like Cristobal Balenciaga (1895-1972) who was born in

Guetaria, Spain; Carolina Herrera who was born in Venezuela, Mariano Fortuny (1871) born in

Grenada, Spain, and Oscar de la Renta who was born in the Dominican Republic, all had a

tremendous impact on fashion.

Additionally, contemporary Latin Designers like Narciso Rodriguez who was born in Cuba, Custo

Dalmau who was born in Castalan, Spain, Isabel Toledo born in Havana, Cuba, and Paco

Rabanne born in San Sebastian, Spain are also making a phenomenal impact on fashion in the

current market. These designers show at major international fashion events like New York and

Paris, and their designs are worn by premier cultural influencers like, actresses, models, singers,

and even the current First Lady of US, Michelle Obama.

In essence, Sobeidy created Latin Fashion Week to not only make her dream come true but to

uplift the Latin community and the world through fashion.

Latin Fashion Week was created in the spirit of these illustrious designers. Latin Fashion Week

is a platform that is completely dedicated to excelling the work of Latin and multicultural

inspired designers. The Latin Fashion Week “Boutique Style” event helps designers meet and

interact with influential industry leaders who can help propel their work.

Most important we empower the Latin Fashion World to take pride in itself and share its

treasures (people, culture, unique style) with each other and the world. We celebrate

everything that is “Latin Fashion.”
