GET SOME FRENCH CULTURECAPITAL DISTRICT – CCI Greenheart, a non-profi t student exchange orga-nization for 30 years, has French exchange students that have requested to come to this area for the summer. The students are part of the Inde-pendent Homestay Program. The students come for various dates and lengths of stay. The goal of the program is to have an experience with an American family. Students have their own insurance and spending money. Host families provide a place to stay and meals. Host families choose the student they would like to host. COLONIE CURBSIDE COLLECTION BEGINSCOLONIE – Colonie’s free weekly yard waste collection has begun. Regular weekly curbside collection is by fi re district, as follows: Monday, Midway/Stanford Heights; Tuesday, Shaker Road/Loudonville; Wednesday, Latham/Schuyler Heights; Thursday, Verdoy/Boght/Maplewood; and Friday, Fuller Road/West Albany. When a legal holiday falls on a collection day, pick up for all districts may occur on another day during the week. Regular weekly service continues through November 6. After November 6, the Town will continue to pick up yard waste, but not on the regular weekly schedule. Collection continues through December 11, weather permitting. Call 783-LEAF for information.

We search for lost people of all ages working with the NYS Police, County Sheriff , Local Police, Fire Departments, and the NYS DEC Forest Rangers. A love of the outdoors is a must for interested volun-teers and we will provide all of the additional training to help you become a mean-ingful part of our search team. Also, if you’re not up to working in the woods we have several team positions that support our searches to include Radio Communica-tions, Logistics, Equipment, and Vehicle Maintenance.
HELP FOR SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN WHO STUTTER
CAPITAL DISTRICT - Stuttering is a frustrating and embarrass-ing problem for millions of people, but it can be especially tough on elementary school-age children. Help is available for parents, teachers, and speech-language pathologists at most public libraries in the form of a DVD designed to help school-age children who stutter. Some libraries have an older video version. The DVD features students from fi rst through sixth grade, some of whom talk about their experiences with stuttering. They talk openly about the teasing they face from classmates and how their stuttering sometimes makes them feel about themselves. The 38-minute DVD, entitled Therapy in Action: The School-age Child Who Stutters, produced by the 67-year-old nonprofi t Stuttering Foundation is available free of charge to public libraries nationwide. LIBRARY TRUSTEE CANDIDATES SOUGHT FOR 2016
CLIFTON PARK – The Board of Trustees of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library are seeking candidates for four library trustee positions that expire on December 31, 2015. The four trustee positions represent Clifton Park. In order to qualify, candidates are required to be registered voters resid-ing in the town of Clifton Park. Employees of the Library, con-tractors and vendors to the Library are ineligible. Residents will vote for the trustees as part of the annual Library Budget vote scheduled for September 17. Two positions are four-year terms, and two are fi ve-year terms, to be determined by the number of votes for each candidate. Interested individu-als can obtain a nominating petition at the Ask-A-Librarian Desk beginning June 1, 2015. Candidates must collect the required number of signatures as indicated on the petition. All petition signatures must be registered voters, residing in Clifton Park. Completed nominating petitions and accom-panying questionnaires must be returned to the Library by 5pm, Tuesday, August 18. The Library Board consists of 11 trustees; 7 representing Clifton Park and 4 representing Half-moon. Trustees attend monthly board meetings, serve on as-signed committees and contribute their expertise to benefi t the Library and the served community. Homeowners choose renova-tion projects for a variety of reasons. Although many im-provements are made to in-crease functionality and com-fort of a home, several others are seen as worthwhile invest-ments. These investments can add up to a higher resale value when the time comes to sell a home.
Certain projects have a history of providing a greater return on homeowners’ investments than others. The following renovation tips can add beau-ty to your home and generate great returns when you put the home up for sale.
· Invest in your kitchen. Kitchen remodels are a safe bet when it comes to put-ting money into improving a home. Residents tend to spend a great deal of time in the kitchen, but a dated, poor-ly functioning kitchen can de-tract from the value of a home, even if the rest of the home is in good shape. It’s possible to recoup between 60 and 120 percent of your kitchen re-model investment, especially if the kitchen matches up well with the rest of your home. Homeowners should know that a deluxe renovation may not be necessary, as relatively moderate improvements can create a whole new look for a kitchen.

Doing the work yourself can cut the cost of decks in half, but only if you have the specifi c tools or experience to tackle such a project.
· Improve curb appeal. Add-ing attractive landscaping and freshening up the entryway to a home can add consider-able value to your home, as buyers judge homes by their exteriors. Completely reno-vated interiors may never be seen if buyers pass up your home because of a less at-tractive exterior. Classy, sub-tle changes, like well-placed shrubbery and a green lawn, can work wonders. An inviting front door and well-lit entry-way also add curb appeal to a home.

Motorists routinely check their tires for proper infl a-tion, top off engine fl uid lev-els and maintain oil change schedules. But some drivers do not understand the im-portance of keeping engine air fi lters clean.
Engine air fi lters are a rela-tively inexpensive vehicle part, but they perform a very important job. For ev-ery gallon of gas a car burns, it uses the equivalent of 12,000 gallons of air, and that air must be fi ltered to help keep an engine clean.
Air fi lters catch all of the dust, grime, insects, sap, leaves, and any other debris
WHY A CLEAN AIR FILTER IS IMPORTANT IN YOUR VEHICLEthat may get sucked up past the air intake of the vehicle’s grill and into the engine it-self. Without the air fi lter, those contaminants may compromise the engine, causing corrosion and abra-sion. If the air fi lter in the en-gine becomes too dirty and is not changed regularly, the engine is starved of air.
Clean air fi lters allow just the right ratio of air to fuel to enable the engine to func-tion properly. Engines need adequate air for the combus-tion process to take place. Without the proper combus-tion levels, vehicles cannot perform properly or effi -
ciently and the engine may burn more gas or get fewer miles to the gallon. A dirty fi lter also can rob an engine of power. Drivers may notice sluggish acceleration.
Air fi lters also can get so dirty that the engine stalls completely. But such a prob-lem only develops after con-siderable neglect.
Air fi lters may not need to be replaced at each and every oil change service call. Many technicians advise replacing the fi lter every 8,000 miles. However, drivers who live in particularly dry and dusty regions may need to replace fi lters more frequently.
Mechanics can often detect when an air fi lter needs to be replaced. If he or she notices the air fi lter is particularly dirty, then it’s probably time to replace it. Replacing the fi lter is a relatively inexpen-sive repair for the amount of performance and peace of mind a new fi lter provides.

Also needed are puzzle books of all kinds, DVD’s (can be used, but must have covers), com-ics & paperback books in very good condition, in particular Westerns, fantasy, histori-cal fiction. NORTHEAST MOBILE SEARCH & RESCUE
VOLUNTEERS NEEDEDCAPITAL DISTRICT - Northeast Mobile Search and Rescue (NEMSAR) is looking for a few good women and men to join our team. NEMSAR is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit, all volunteer search team located in Clifton Park. We search for lost people of all ages working with the NYS Police, County Sheriff, Local Police, Fire Departments, and the NYS DEC Forest Rangers. A love of the outdoors is a must for interested volunteers and we will provide all of the additional training to help you be-come a meaningful part of our search team. Also, if you’re not up to working in the woods we have several team positions that support our searches to include Radio Communications, Logistics, Equipment, and Vehicle Maintenance.
