USS SLATER Returns to AlbanyALBANY The historic naval ship USS SLATER has returned to Albany to begin her 15th season as a museum and attraction in the Capital Region. Tug service to move the ship was provided by Don Jon Marine. The ship has been designated a National Historic Landmark by the Department of the Interior. The ship will not open to the public until April. Restoration and maintenance of public spaces will continue. Tentative opening date is Wednesday, April 4. USS SLATER is located on the Hudson River in Downtown Albany just south of the Dunn Memorial Bridge. Once open, public hours will be Wednesday through Sunday, 10am-4pm. Memories of Town of New Scotland BookNEW SCOTLAND The New Scotland Historical Association has published a book entitled Times of Our Lives New Scotland Memories. The stories are written by people who lived in the Town of New Scotland most before 1970. Each of the hamlets and villages have stories of places and events that will give you a glimpse of what it was like to live in the Town of New Scotland when it was less hectic and neighbor helped neighbor. * Despite St. Patrick being alive centuries earlier, St. Pat-ricks Day celebrations didnt begin until 1737.

* More people of Irish heritage live in the United States than currently live in all of Ireland. Irish-Americans living state-side predominantly reside in the North Atlantic states.

* Saint Patrick angered the Celtic Druids many times by converting pagans to Christi-anity. The Druids put him in jail on numerous occasions.

* Green is not the offi cial color affi liated with Saint Patrick. It is really blue. However, green became a familiar hue during the nineteenth century more for being associated with the magic of Irish legends than Saint Patrick himself.

* The three-leaf shamrock has
